Eternals will not only introduce a new cadre of heroes and powers to the MCU, but it will also bring one of Jack Kirby's weirder creations to the big screen.

At a set visit attended by The DirectEternals producer Nate Moore confirmed that arguably the group's most unique and unusual superpower will debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "What makes them different from other groups we’ve had, including the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, is that they can pool their energy and create something called the Uni-Mind," Moore said.

"The Uni-Mind is a concept that was borrowed from Jack Kirby’s run in 1976," Moore continued. "It allows the Eternals to amplify the power of any single Eternal. However, they all have to be somewhat connected to do so. So they can’t be on opposite sides of the world and create a Uni-Mind. They have to be in proximity with each other. It is an amplification device, but it does require the power of all the Eternals together."

The Uni-Mind of the comics is a bit different from what Moore indicated will be in the film. Kirby debuted the concept in 1977's Eternals #12. The ability comes from an experiment by Kronos who ended up amplifying the power of the other Eternals. It allowed them to pool their abilities and intelligence into a new entity composed of energy, dubbed the Uni-Mind. In the MCU, it appears the Uni-Mind will be what links the Eternals together and allows them to share powers and amp up family members.

Of course, as Moore mentions, the members will all have to work together, and there have already been hints that such a feat will be a challenge. For one, the heroes are all scattered at the beginning of the film. Angelina Jolie's Thena will also be suffering from memory loss.

"If you guys are fans of comics, Mahd Wy’ry is something that can beset an Eternal. It's a version of dementia." Moore said during a set visit. "Because of the amount of memories they have, they become unstuck in their own mind, so she starts to forget exactly when she is, so through the course of the movie, Gilgamesh becomes her protector."

Despite these issues, Moore's comments do seem to indicate that the Uni-Mind will be employed at one point. Whether the energy being concept will also appear, fans will have to wait until Eternals arrives in theaters Nov. 5.
