Eternals producer Nate Moore has revealed more details about the movie's Deviants, including how they differ from the Marvel Comics version of the Eternals' evil counterparts.

"As you know, the Deviants in the comics are called the Changing People, no two Deviants look the same," said Moore, speaking during a set visit attended by ComicBook.com in January 2020. "So in our film, no two Deviants will look the same. But you do see as sort of these parasitic predators, when they do kill off a predator in the film, they do take the shape of that predator. So they're sort of bat-like Deviants. There's a wolf-like Deviant. There's a Deviant that look like all sorts of creatures from myth and legend in history. And these are the Deviants that the Eternals were sent again to eradicate, to help humanity advance. Because the Deviants are the Changing People, they come in all different shapes and sizes."

Among the Deviants that appear in Eternals is the group's leader Kro. Rumor has it Dan Stevens (Legion) is playing the character, who Moore described as being "the most intelligent of the Deviants. He is the only Deviant who can speak and that evolution will be one of the mysteries the Eternals have to uncover. Why is he able to do this? Why does he look humanoid when all the other Deviants to some degree, are monstrous? He has these sort of incredible tendrils that can extend from his fingers and other parts of his body, and he becomes a real problem for the Eternals."

Eternals co-writer/director Chloé Zhao was equally careful to avoid revealing too much about Kro during a more recent interview. "I think the only thing I can say… he’s very unique. I think in a way I would say he is an accident in evolution, and there is great debate around the right for someone like him to exist," said Zhao.

Unlike the Deviants, the Eternals can pass themselves off as being regular humans and have lived among the people of Earth for thousands of years when the movie picks up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's present-day. "Some of the Eternals live amongst humans very freely. Some completely live removed from humanity, and I think that affects how they view humans," explained Moore, speaking during the same set visit. "So when they interact with humans, they interact with humans very differently."

Eternals premieres in theaters Nov. 5.
