Marvel's Chief Creative Officer, Kevin Feige, has revealed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's take on the Deviants for The Eternals will be a bit more unique than what fans of the comics are used to.

Feige unveiled the secrets at last weekend's CCXP convention in Brazil. "Deviants are in the film. The Deviants in the comic book mythology were…extremely important plans of the Celestials...and we will see Deviants that look unlike anything we’ve seen in the comics," Feige said. "This is a new form of Deviants that we’ll see in the movie." It remains to be seen how the MCU's Deviants will compare to that seen in the comic book source material.

Since the release of its first film over eleven years ago, Marvel has made it quite apparent that the MCU doesn't shy away from tweaking established lore and character designs. Despite the significance of the Deviants within the Marvel Universe, it comes as no surprise that Marvel Studios will look to put its own spin on the characters.

Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Gemma Chan as Sersi and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight. The film arrives in theaters on Nov. 6, 2020.
