After years as a superhero, Iron Man sacrificed himself to stop Thanos in 2019's Avengers: Endgame by using the Infinity Stones. However, while the aftermath of his death played a part in Spider-Man: Far From Home, War Machine actor Don Cheadle confirmed it will also factor into the upcoming Armor Wars series onDisney+.

During an interview with BroBible's Post-Credit Podcast, Cheadle discussed the impact Tony Stark's passing would have on War Machine's character in Armor Wars. "The death of Tony Stark, I’m pretty sure, will play a role in the series," he explained. "Where we’ve been sort of progressing Rhodey—even in the last film where he’s now up again and he’s now walking again and he’s now mobile again—so as the technology continues to develop and we keep making innovations in the suit and what happens, I imagine there’s gonna be another elevation and another way that we’re going to keep digging into that part of Rhodey."

Cheadle further added that finding out a way to "bridge what’s happening in the comic books with what’s happening on screen in the MCU and how we’re going to make those worlds work, that’s really exciting."

Written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton and featuring art by Mark D. Bright and Barry Windsor-Smith, the original "Armor Wars" storyline ran between Iron Man #225-232 and sees the Armored Avenger hunt down any who have stolen designs for his armors. A sequel by John Byrne and John Romita Jr. called "Armor Wars II" ran between Issues #258-266 of the series, while a version set in the Ultimate Universe was released in 2009.

Armor Wars does not yet have a release date.
