Artist Peach Momoko will put her own manga-inspired spin on the Marvel Universe with Demon Days: X-Men.

Momoko will make her Marvel Comics debut by writing and illustrating the five-issue miniseries, which centers around characters like Wolverine and Psylocke as a psychic swordswoman who must face several demons terrorizing a nearby village. Two of the demons are described as "black and white with a terrifying red tongue" and "another may be the strongest demon there is," hinting at demonic versions of Venom and the Hulk respectively. The series will release an issue once every three months.

"A dream come true. Not only did Marvel offer me to do interiors, but to do everything myself and tell a Marvel story like no other. A ‘Momoko-verse’ was born,” Momoko said in a statement. "Because I love Yokai stories, horror, Japanese folktales, classic samurai tales… I wanted to tackle as much as possible using these concepts with Marvel characters and make something Marvel fans can still appreciate but also bring it in a fresh direction."

Momoko was recently named as one of Marvel's "Stormbreakers," a group of artists who are presented as the "next generation" of comic book illustrators. She has also provided popular variant covers for several comic book companies, including Marvel and DC Comics. Demon Days will be her first foray into interior comics art and writing for Marvel in this reimagination of the Marvel Universe, with demons, monsters, mutants and magic.

Demon Days: X-Men #1 goes on sale in March 2021 from Marvel.
