With Marvel's "Defenders Saga" of live-action shows recently moving from Netflix to Disney+, the House of Ideas has debuted a collection of new, illustrated posters -- one for each series, in fact.On Twitter, Marvel shared one new, Disney+-branded poster for all six shows that make up the "Defenders Saga." First and foremost, there's a new Daredevil poster illustrated by Chelsea Lowe, followed by a Jessica Jones poster from artist Freya Betts. The Luke Cage poster comes from Ryan Shumate, while the Iron Fist poster is illustrated by Julien Rico Jr. Finally, there is a poster for The Defenders by artist Berkay DaÄŸlar and a poster for The Punisher by Zi Xu.
In late 2013, Marvel partnered with Netflix to produce a line of live-action, adult-oriented dramas focusing on the comic publisher's street-level heroes, which would ostensibly be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Things officially kicked off in April 2015, when Marvel's Daredevil premiered its first season on Netflix. The first season of Marvel's Jessica Jones followed suit in November 2015.
Spinning out of the events of Jessica Jones Season 1, Marvel's Luke Cage premiered its own first season on Netflix in September 2016. Marvel's Iron Fist Season 1 then premiered in 2017. The respective casts of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist joined forces for Marvel's The Defenders, a crossover limited series that premiered on Netflix in August 2017. Finally, November 2017 saw the premiere of Marvel's The Punisher, a spinoff of Daredevil Season 2 (which itself dropped in March 2016). All the aforementioned shows were ultimately discontinued, and the Netflix era of the MCU officially came to a close with the third and final season of Jessica Jones in June 2019.
However, that's not the end of the story. Daredevil lead Charlie Cox later reprised his role as Matt Murdock in the 2021 MCU film Spider-Man: No Way Home. Around that same time, fellow Daredevil alum Vincent D'Onofrio reprised his role as the villainous Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the MCU-set Disney+ original series Hawkeye.
In February 2022, it came to light that Marvel's entire slate of Netflix original series would actually be leaving the platform. Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that they would be moving to Disney+, the new de facto streaming home for Marvel properties. The "Defenders Saga" hit Disney+ in March 2022. The mature content of the former Netflix shows prompted the Disney-owned streaming service to update its parental controls.
In May 2022, it was reported that Marvel Studios was developing a new Daredevil series for Disney+. While details regarding the project are scarce at the moment, the revival is reportedly a direct continuation of Marvel Television and Netflix's Daredevil series, which initially came to an end with Season 3 in October 2018. Additionally, Cox will presumably be reprising his role as the Man Without Fear once more.
Daredevil Seasons 1-3, Jessica Jones Seasons 1-3, Luke Cage Seasons 1-2, Iron Fist Seasons 1-2, The Defenders Season 1 and The Punisher Seasons 1-2 are currently streaming on Disney+.
