Marvel Comics has revealed new details regarding the upcoming Death of Doctor Strange event, including some of the tie-in releases readers can expect to see in comic shops later this year.
In addition to the main five-issue Death of Doctor Strange limited series by Jed MacKay and Lee Garbett, Marvel is putting out Death of Doctor Strange: Avengers #1 by Alex Paknadel and Ryan Bodenheim. The tie-in "will see Earth's Mightiest Heroes face off against a rampaging new Juggernaut. Can they prevent the unstoppable being from destroying Manhattan or do they lack the magical expertise needed to find an answer?"
Then, of course, there's Strange Academy Presents: Death of Doctor Strange #1, which CBR previously revealed exclusively. Written by Skottie Young and illustrated by Mike Del Mundo, the tie-in finds Strange Academy shut down due to the Sorcerer Supreme's death. After being forced to return home, Iric and Alvi "come face-to-face with their mother: the Enchantress! Dealing with problems of her own in the wake of Strange's death, fans will learn that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and more than just one realm is in trouble."
On top of all of that, Marvel has revealed Kaare Andrews' cover art for MacKay and Garbett's Death of Doctor Strange #2, which is scheduled to hit comic shops on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
"The final saga of Doctor Strange is upon us! This September, the Marvel Universe will lose its Sorcerer Supreme in Death of Doctor Strange, a new limited series written by Jed MacKay (Black Cat) with art by Lee Garbett (Captain Marvel)," the House of Ideas said in its official press release. "This startling story will not only dive into the mystery behind Doctor Strange's demise but also explore the major impact his death will have on the Earth that he so fiercely protected from countless mystical threats."
