Iron Man may be one of the most loved Marvel characters of all time. Whether it's his sarcastic personality or odd methods of combat, fans are hooked on the main character. It's no question that Tony Stark knows his way around a fight, but when he's thrown into the DC universe the tables shift.

When comparing Iron Man to DC Villains, it's crucial to compare their attributes and styles of combat in order to speculate the winner of a fight. By examining the Iron Man series and all of his Marvel appearances, we can come to a hypothesis of who he could defeat, and who he would lose to in the DC villain universe.

10 CAN'T DEFEAT: Darkseid

Tony Stark's abilities make him a powerful and worthy opponent, but not against Darkseid. Comic fans have asked if Thanos could defeat Darkseid several times, but ultimately the answer is always in favor of Darkseid. Thanos may claim to be inevitable, but Darkseid is.

In the Avenger's series, Iron Man needed help all along the way to even stand somewhat of a chance against Thanos. Iron Man vs. Darkseid in a one-on-one battle would be a landslide win for Darkseid.

9 CAN DEFEAT: Joker

The Joker is quick-witted and always seems to be one step ahead of his foes, but when it comes down to a battle against Iron Man, he would surely lose. In light of both of their intelligence levels, Joker wins in intuition and trickery.

But, this does not match Iron Man's inventions, ways around a battle, and his ability to out-strength the popular DC villain. On top of that, Iron Man doesn't necessarily have the same qualms about taking a life that Batman does, so Joker may go to jail once or twice, but Iron Man simply would not abide.

8 CAN'T DEFEAT: Sinestro

The Green Lantern's nemesis Sinestro is a master of the power ring. His yellow skin makes him immune to any of the ring's side effects so he is unstoppable with it. Both Iron Man and Sinestro share flying techniques but Iron Man's is much more tactical as opposed to Sinestro's powerful approach.

Iron Man has the ability to think on his feet, but would it be fast enough for Sinestro's evil schemes of planning ahead? Both that coupled with his control over the power ring make him a loss for Iron Man in battle.

7 CAN DEFEAT: Bane

Bane tends to use his strength to battle Batman which proves to work against the equally strength-driven foe. However, it's not only strength that is derived from Iron Man's abilities, but rather his agility and quick tactics.

Also, Bane is much more powerful with the drug Venom which pushes him to a fit of rage, but without the drug he is vulnerable. Tony Stark would outsmart the villain, therefore leaving him to be the victor. Bane may have broken the Bat, but Iron Man is a completely different story.

6 CAN'T DEFEAT: Anti-Monitor

Anti-Monitor is simply put, way too powerful for Iron Man. He is responsible for more deaths than any other DC villain due to his destruction of several universe's. When it comes down to it, Tony Stark is only human and his suit makes him slightly more superhuman. But, a man in a high-tech suit of armor does not stand a chance against a foe capable of universe destruction.

The DC villain corrupted by the multiverse would defeat Iron Man with ease in a fight.

5 CAN DEFEAT: Mr. Freeze

Mr. Freeze may be immortal and incapable of aging, but he would get bested by Iron Man. His tactics against Batman in the DC universe are usually very flawed and not thought all the way through. This would be a major weakness if he were to face Iron Man because Iron Man thrives on his intelligence.

Iron Man even has a defense against his main power: freezing. As seen in Iron Man the movie, Tony Stark battles the freezing temperatures of the atmosphere and his suit becomes resistant to the low-temperatures.

4 CAN'T DEFEAT: Eclipso

Eclipso sits on his throne

Eclipso is known for his super strength and is known to be compared to the Superman of villains in the DC world. Tony Stark's suit does make him supernatural, but not to the likes of Eclipso's. His abilities to fly and harness super strength during flight vastly surpasses any ability Iron Man can achieve.

But, then the question is raised about intelligence. Could Eclipso match Tony Stark's? No, but Tony Stark always has problems with his suit while Eclipso has become a master with his powers with little to no room for error.

3 CAN DEFEAT: Deathstroke

The ninja assassin, Deathstroke, has great abilities in agility, strength and speed; essentially all of the perks Tony Stark has when he's in the iron suit. However, Deathstroke does not think on his feet. He does not wear a strong iron suit so his agility abilities are far greater, but Iron Man uses his power of flight which separates the two.

Also, Deathstroke has been known to be humiliated by DC characters such as Robin whom Iron Man could easily defeat. The battle goes in favor of Iron Man.

2 CAN'T DEFEAT: Mister Mxyzptlk

Mister Mxyzptlk from DC Comics

Though small, Mr. Mxyzptlk is easily one of the top 5 most powerful beings in the DC universe. His first appearance in Metropolis in Plot Crisis was seen by Superman and slowly it began to unravel that this imp was one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Not only does he travel through dimensions, but he has harnessed the ability of metamorphosis which makes him one of the most elusive villains.

Iron Man would simply not stand a chance against the time-traveling imp. In fact, most foes that go against Mister Mxyzptlk lose.

1 CAN DEFEAT: Lex Luthor

This is the most even showdown out of all the DC villains against Iron Man. Both are extremely intelligent and use their inventions to stop their foes. Lex Luthor matches against Superman with his smarts, and Iron Man matches against Thanos.

Although Lex Luthor may be slightly more intelligent than Iron Man, Iron Man will come out on top. His flying abilities in his Iron Man suit are much more agile than Lex Luthor's and his tactical form of fighting with how the suit is built gives him an advantage.
