As one of the most underrated mutants in the Marvel Universe, Sunfire is frequently not given the respect he is due. Shiro Yoshida is a powerful mutant who can absorb radiation from virtually any source and convert it to plasma. He then uses the plasma to fly, fire energy blasts, create shields and generate highly controlled plasma bursts.

Sunfire is like the Human Torch if Johnny Storm took things more seriously and had better control over his powers. But some heroes and villains have been known to write Sunfire off in combat. Hopefully, DC's heroes wouldn't make the same mistake.

10 LOSE TO: Firestorm

DC Comics Firestorm

For a lot of fans, Firestorm's power set looks a lot like Sunfire's, and that is true to an extent. Both men fly and can generate powerful energy blasts. But that's where their most obvious similarities come to an end.

While Sunfire might actually be able to absorb Firestorm's energy blasts and turn them against him, he doesn't have an answer for Firestorm's ability to break down and rearrange subatomic particles to do pretty much whatever he wants. Sunfire wouldn't be able to overcome that ability.

9 DEFEAT: The Atom

DC Comics' The Atom throwing his knock-out punch.

Ray Palmer is one of DC's top scientists, developing a means of shrinking himself down to sizes that are imperceptible to most people. That may not include Sunfire, though. As The Atom, Palmer became a member of the Justice League and a key hero in DC. He has the ability to take on pretty much anyone.

The problem for him is that Sunfire has the ability to track an opponent's heat signature. He may be able to track The Atom no matter how small he gets, and his plasma powers would be able to destroy him.

8 LOSE TO: The Flash

Barry Allen - Flash Family alignment

Being the fastest man alive is a huge moniker to live up to, but Barry Allen has always found a way to do it. At one point, The Flash sacrificed himself to save everything, but eventually returned to the land of the living as most heroes do.

Sunfire is certainly powerful, but his plasma backed abilities don 't give him the juice to take down someone on The Flash's level. Barry would easily be able to steer clear of Sunfire's offensive capabilities until he took the mutant down.

7 DEFEAT: Red Tornado

20 Justice Leaguers Ranked From Weakest To Totally OP

Created by T.O. Morrow, Red Tornado was built for nefarious purposes but eventually became a member of the Justice League and guardian of the team known as Young Justice. While he hasn't been as prominent a character in recent years, he is still a dangerous opponent. The android can fly and generate potent wind blasts that devastate his opponents.

The only question in this fight is if Red Tornado's android body could stand up to Sunfire's intense plasma blasts. It's quite likely that it couldn't, leaving a melted pile where the hero once was.

6 LOSE TO: Dr. Light

Kimiyo Hoshi took the name of one of DC's greatest villains and decided to do good with it. Her husband was the original, nefarious Dr. Light, but she became a hero instead. Using her light based powers, she could fly, shoot energy blasts and create energy constructs.

She's also not known to be one to screw around in a fight, preferring to get down to the business of winning. Sunfire would lose this fight simply due to being out powered by the good doctor.

5 DEFEAT: Black Lightning

Black Lightning Power

In many cases, Black Lighting's electrical abilities give him at least a fighting chance. Deceptively powerful, Black Lightning has often been underestimated in the similar fashion to Sunfire. Together, they would actually make an incredible duo.

But if they ended up squaring off, Sunfire would likely come out on top. His mutant plasma generation abilities would overwhelm Black Lightning's electrical abilities, thought the fight would be a close one.

4 LOSE TO: Orion

Orion uses a Boom Tube to reach New York City

The son of Darkseid was taken from Apokolips and raised on New Genesis by the New Gods as part of a treaty to end the war between the two worlds. But even though he was raised by a more calm and caring group of people, Orion's rage runs deep and is often barely under control.

His power is vast, making him even more dangerous if he slips up and lets go even a little bit. It's hard to imagine that Sunfire's abilities would have much effect on Orion. It's also frightening to imagine what Orion would do to Sunfire if he got his hands on him.

3 DEFEAT: Aquaman

Aquaman has a much deeper range of powers than many people have given him credit for. His hybrid Atlantean/Human physiology has given him superhuman abilities, and everyone is quite familiar with his ability to communicate with marine life. But he's also an accomplished fighter and a latent sorcerer. Aquaman has a variety of abilities to fall back on.

Unfortunately, he's also prone to be impacted by extreme dehydration more quickly than most, so being blasted with super-heated plasma by Sunfire probably won't do him much good.

2 LOSE TO: Power Girl

Power Girl cover

Hailing from a different Earth, this Supergirl from another reality is as formidable as her Kryptonian cousin. Power Girl is strong, invulnerable and incredibly tough to defeat, not that it's entirely impossible.

Still, it's highly unlikely that Sunfire's mutant abilities would have much effect on her. She would shrug off his blasts, then chase him down quite handily. This might be a good time for Sunfire to choose the better part of valor and walk away from the fight.

1 DEFEAT: Martian Manhunter

Martian Manhunter

If there is a hero in DC more vulnerable to Sunfire's attacks than Martian Manhunter, it's almost impossible to imagine who that would be. The Manhunter has an incredible array of powers, including comparable abilities to Superman as well as telepathy, invisibility, intangibility, and shape shifting.

But he's also extremely vulnerable to fire, which obviously plays right into Sunfire's hands. While he might not be throwing flames around, Sunfire generates a lot of heat and starts a lot of fires. Maybe Martian Manhunter should bring Power Girl with him as back up.
