Devil's Reign reveals that another one of Earth's mightiest heroes has been thrown in prison.

The current Daredevil-centric event, helmed by writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto, kicked off with Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, waging an all out war on New York City's superheroes. With a new team of Thunderbolts and an enhanced police force patrolling the streets, fan-favorite heroes like members of the Fantastic Four, Moon Knight and Iron Fist were captured and incarcerated. Now, a preview for Devil's Reign #4 reveals that Fisk's forces apprehended another Marvel icon: Iron Man.

Tony Stark had been assisting the heroes after they went underground to figure out how to stop Fisk. He had suggested running for New York's mayor to get Fisk out of office and remove "The Powers Act," but the assembled team ultimately decided that Luke Cage was best suited for the role. Then, the issue prior revealed that this Tony was actually Chameleon posing as the armored Avenger and working for Doctor Octopus. So, the question at the end of the issue remained: where's the real Tony Stark?

According to the preview, Stark has been a prisoner alongside the other captive heroes, and can be seen involved in a jailbreak led by Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Whether this is the actual Tony Stark depends on when Devil's Reign takes place in relation to the current Iron Man ongoing series. In that title, Stark is currently a cosmic god, though Doctor Doom swore to strip him of his power in the recent Iron Man #16.

Being that Ben Reilly still held the mantle of Scarlet Spider in Iron Man and ditched it to be the Beyond Corporation's sponsored wall crawler in The Amazing Spider-Man (which is how he is shown in Devil's Reign), an assumption can be made that this is the real Tony following whatever altercation he had with Doom. The Marvel villain has already proven this past year that he can alter the powers of heroes, being that he locked the Human Torch in a permanent state of fire in Fantastic Four.
