Marvel Comics will be bringing back its defunct title Crazy for a special one-shot due out this September. And of course, you can't really have a Crazy resurrection without the magazine's mascot, Obnoxio the Clown.

Crazy #1 is a release chalked up to "a momentary lapse in sanity on the part of a few over-worked editors and a gang of writers and artists ready to take advantage of it." On that note, the one-shot features an ensemble of writers and artists, including Gerry Duggan, Frank Tieri, Jon Adams, Don Simpson and Scott Koblish, among others.

The original Crazy title was first published by Marvel -- then known as Atlas Comics -- in 1953. The comic, which centered around humor and pop culture parodies, ran for seven issues. The second iteration of Crazy, which launched in 1973, ran for three issues and reprinted stories from Marvel's '60s satiric comic book series Not Brand Echh.

Later that same year, Marvel relaunched Crazy as a black-and-white comics publication that fully committed to the idea of being a pop culture humor magazine, in the same vein as MAD or National Lampoon. In 1980, the character of Obnoxio the Clown -- created by Larry Hama -- was introduced as the magazine's new mascot in an effort to combat flagging sales. Obnoxio has gone on to make sporadic appearances in various Marvel comics.

Crazy Magazine folded in 1983 after running a total of 94 issues. However, it appears the title is coming back with a vengeance come September, with the cover of Crazy #1 prominently featuring Obnoxio with the likes of Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, the Thing, Iron Fist, Mister Fantastic and Spider-Man in his clutches.
