Marvel fans obviously love to read comics and watch the movies for the action, battle scenes, and villain takedowns. But there are other interesting storylines that take place in the background to all of those action sequences and those background storylines sometimes focus on romances. The budding and blossoming romances between heroes and humans in the Marvel universe always make the comics and movies much more entertaining to watch.

Some couples make all the sense in the world and make fans want to see more. Other couples make no sense at all and leave fans scratching their heads as to why writers decided to pair certain characters together. Find out which five couples from the MCU make sense and which ones simply do not.

10 Makes No Sense: Natasha And Bruce

Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff are a couple that absolutely baffles audience members on almost every level. Although the comics differ from the movies, when the MCU decided to reveal the love interest between the two in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, it felt awkward at best. So much so, that their "romance" didn't surface much more in the following films.

Of course, the comics have more time to explain the connection they share but in the movies, it is obvious that Natasha and Bruce are not a great fit at all.

9 Makes Sense: T’Challa And Nakia

The harmonizing connection that T'Challa and Nakia share creates a perfect foundation for a loving relationship. The nature of their roles to each other, as well as in Wakanda, carries an essence and beauty that can be felt through their joint storyline.

In the Black Panther movie, Nakia's grace and elegance coincide with her power and skill which reveals that they are equals, even though she may be worthy of the crown. T'Challa's acknowledgment of that compliments his persistence in courting his possible queen. They both can be the protector or the nurturer at any given time.

8 Makes No Sense: Vision And Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch and Vision seemed to have the passion that a heroic couple would need in order to be very likable. Unfortunately, the fact that their individual superpowers were such forces to be reckoned with made it almost too predictable that one of them would have to dissipate for the storyline to make sense.

But for some reason, the fact that Vision is an Android and Scarlet Witch is a sorceress (who is closer to existing as a regular human being) just won't let the authenticity of their love seep in. This point has been proven, as they had quite a rocky relationship in the original comics.

7 Makes Sense: Star-Lord And Gamora

Star-Lord flirting with Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy

The relationship between Guardian of the Galaxy's Star-Lord and Gamora is extremely entertaining to see because of how lovable they are together. Bravery combined with poise is an easy way to define what Gamora brings to her team. The only thing that ever challenges those strengths of hers is Star-Lord’s charismatic and unfathomable lack of intelligence.

These two were always there for one another and the light of their love shined brightest in the battle of good versus evil. That always made for interesting dialogue between the two characters making them a likable couple.

6 Makes No Sense: Mister Fantastic And Invisible Woman

One of the most difficult relationships to even understand, much less like, is Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. With Reed Richard's exceptional knowledge being matched with such dull superpowers, he seemed to take out his frustration by acting arrogantly. That behavior occasionally impacted Susan Storm.

Having one of the most monumental weddings in the MCU, this couple should have made sense in the comics and the movies but unfortunately, Mister Fantastic used his leadership role in a way that just didn't always appease fans of the two, but even more so, the fans of Invisible Woman.

5 Makes Sense: Deadpool And Copycat

Deadpool and Copycat as a couple might be a controversial topic to most fans due to their love-hate nature. Their on-screen romance is playfully sadistic and their flirty lasciviousness creates relationship envy in the minds of viewers and ultimately makes perfect sense.

The comic version to Copycat, also known as Vanessa Carlysle, is much more intense than the insatiable and sweet-natured beauty queen she plays in the movies. Of course, Wade Wilson clearly has his own set of issues and is the lucky one out of the two but they definitely deserve one another.

4 Makes No Sense: Thor And Jane Foster

jane foster

Thor and Jane Foster are easy to dislike when it comes to couples from the MCU. Other than the couple being boring to watch due to their dialogue containing minimal passion at best, it is very easy to imagine Thor with countless other female characters.

Thor had the presence of a God, but unfortunately also had the arrogance of a King and the wit of a hammer. It seemed that Jane Foster would have been better suited for a Loki type. Jane Foster was an astrophysicist and we all know Thor probably had no clue what that was.

3 Makes Sense: Spider-Man And Mary-Jane

The relationship between Spider-Man and Mary-Jane has been referred to as one of the longest-running romances in the MCU. They are often compared to DC's Superman and Lois Lane but ultimately they won our hearts over after the iconic "upside-down kiss." Mary-Jane started out much like the girl-next-door type and already seemed unattainable for the shy and unpopular Peter Parker.

As the on-screen romance progressed it was very necessary that Spider-Man become much more hip himself, especially when we found out that Mary-Jane had some competition with Gwen Stacy.

2 Makes No Sense: Okoye And W’kabi

Another relationship that sparked a curiosity for many MCU fans was between W’kabi and Okoye. W'kabi definitely had a significant reason to betray his best friend after T'Challa made a promise to bring back the person that killed his parents.

Had it not been for Okoye standing her ground and causing him to surrender they might not have even made this list as a couple. Some may say that he surrendered to her out of love, but love should have kept him from ever thinking about betrayal in the first place.

1 Makes Sense: Tony Stark and Pepper Potts

Tony Stark and Pepper Potts

Topping the list of Marvel matches made-in-heaven is everyone's favorite couple, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. Tony was always overzealous with his rightful arrogance and boisterous intelligence, but he could only ever be tamed by someone who he trusted to always have his best interest at heart. Of course, everyone knows who the real leader of the two will always be.

Pepper's loyalty drew Tony in because he noticed that no matter what, she was always going to have his back... whether it was as the CEO of his company or as his wife! He was attracted to her devotion.
