While Thor himself is a powerful hero, there are several other versions of the hero who are as powerful as the original himself, if not more so. Let's take a look at the ten most powerful alternate versions of Thor in the Marvel Multiverse.

10 Dani Cage

The first version of Thor that has come about in recent years comes from the world of Old Man Logan, in the world known as the Wastelands. In this world, the heroes of the world were taken out by the collective work of the villains, and the planet has been divided into lands for the villains to rule themselves.

The Wastelands traveled by Old Man Logan in his final story see him reunited with his friend and ally, Dani Cage, the daughter of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. After being critically injured, she managed to hold Thor’s hammer and become the new Thor of that world.

9 Thorion

Some of the more powerful alternate versions of heroes come when looking deep into the Amalgam Comics universe, where the heroes of Marvel and DC Comics were fused together to form a brand new hero between two different heroes. One example of this was when Thor was combined with the hero Orion to become Thorion.

Thorion is the son of Thanoseid, who gave up his son to All-Highfather Odin in a deal between Apokolips and New Asgard. He later defeated L’ok (Loki and Desaad), and the energies used to do so made him into a being known as The Celestial.

8 Thor 2099

The next powerful version of Thor comes from the world of Marvel 2099, where a future version of the Marvel Universe has a religion based around Thor with priests who call themselves Thorites. One Thorite named Cecil MacAdam is deemed the new Thor after being granted the abilities of the Norse gods by the CEO of Alchemex, Avatarr.

The problem however came when they were made to believe they were the Norse gods and were kept under the control of the Alchemex CEO for his own personal use.

7 Beta Ray Bill

One of the most powerful beings in the main 616 Universe to take on the power of Thor is Beta Ray Bill. Beta Ray Bill is a powerful super-soldier of the alien race known as the Korbinites, who was chosen to protect his people after their world was destroyed by the destruction of their galaxy.

While originally Thor and Beta Ray Bill fought for the right to utilize Mjolnir, Bill proved his worthiness to the point where he was given the power of Thor in a weapon known as Stormbreaker.

6 Iron Hammer

The next powerful alternate version of Thor comes in the form of the world of Infinity Warps. During this event, Gamora had created a new universe that fused multiple heroes and villains together to form new beings. One such being was Stark Odinson, otherwise known as Iron Hammer.

Iron Hammer is the fusion of Iron Man and Thor, which saw Stark Odinson become human with no memories of his previous life. This led to him becoming a tech genius and later rediscovering his powers after creating Asgardian infused armor and weaponry.

5 Ultimate Thor

One of the more powerful alternate versions of Thor is Ultimate Thor. Hailing from the previous Ultimate Universe, this Thor was long believed to be a human with powers who lost his sanity and believed himself to be a Norse god.

However, he proved later on to be the real deal. He joined the Ultimates and became friends with Steve Rodgers and Tony Stark. He opposed American military aggression in the comics and was a political and social activist, even refusing to help initially with the Ultimates battling the Hulk until the President doubled the Foreign Aid budget for America.

4 Thor-El

A truly powerful Amalgam Comics version of Thor came to form one of the most powerful hero combinations in the event DC Vs. Marvel Comics: Thor-El. This is a combination of Thor with the all-powerful DC Comics hero, Superman, aka Kal-El.

The combination used the Silver Age versions of each hero, with Superman being in his blue energy form at the time of the comic’s formation. This led to Thor-El’s formation, combining the powers of Asgard and Krypton into one hero.

3 Jane Foster

One of the best and more powerful heroes to wear the mantle of Thor in recent years has to be Jane Foster. Recent years saw Jane battling cancer and soon given the power to become a hero by Freya, Thor’s mother, and the All-Mother.

Chosen in rebellion of Odin’s ways of the past, Jane proved worthy of Mjolnir and gained the power of Thor, joining the new iteration of the Avengers alongside Captain America, aka Sam Wilson, and cementing herself as a hero in the Marvel Universe.

2 MCU Thor

The second most powerful version of Thor in the Marvel Universe is none other than the MCU version of the character. This version, played by Chris Hemsworth, has endured a harrowing journey over the years in his three films and the Avengers franchise.

Having lost both his parents, his brother a handful of times, Asgard, and nearly all of his people, Thor hit a low point after failing to stop Thanos the first time. He found redemption in the final battle against Thanos and has gone on to join the Guardians of the Galaxy in space.

1 Old King Phoenix Thor

The most powerful Thor in the entire Marvel Multiverse is hands down Old King Phoenix Thor. In this version of the character, Thor and Wolverine are the last two heroes at the end of time, with Wolverine being the host of the Phoenix Force. After besting Thor, he is finally convinced to help protect Earth once more when Doom, with the power of almost all of Earth’s heroes, returns.

Wolverine dies at the hands of Doom, in a ploy to give the Phoenix Force to Thor, making Thor the most powerful hero in the Marvel Multiverse.
