WandaVision is all about the dramatic, complicated romance between Avengers heroes Scarlet Witch and Vision. Their romance has defined them both for the better part of four decades, and into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Vision isn't the only Marvel Comics character Wanda has fallen in love with over the years.

Scarlet Witch has had a few big romances that have appeared in the comics, movies, and animated series. Some of Wanda's other romances have been with fellow Avengers. Whether well-known or less-known, hero or villain, obvious or strange, quite a few Marvel characters have caught the Scarlet Witch's eye.

15 Agatha Harkness

While their relationship wasn't romantic, the elderly sorcerer known as Agatha Harkness formed a close friendship with Wanda. She became Wanda's dedicated mentor and helped instruct her in the magical arts. Harkness eventually revealed her ancient past and connection to the Salem Witch Trials.

14 Chthon

The Elder God known as Chthon is the originator of the powerful chaos magic that warped Wanda Maximoff's abilities at a young age. This created a lasting connection between Scarlet Witch and Chthon that the demonic sorcerer exploited several times.

Wanda was Chthon's chosen vessel in his bid to return to power on Earth. He most recently took control of Scarlet Witch again during the Secret Empire event, highlighting their lasting toxic relationship that continues to plague Wanda.

13 Set

A Deviant priest named Ghaur attempted to rebuild the powerful Serpent Crown in order to bring back the Elder God known as Set. He chose seven powerful Marvel heroes to become the Brides of Set in order to help release the Serpent God.

  • He was the first but not the last Elder God to feast on the others to increase his power

Scarlet Witch was one of the women chosen with the Mark of Set. This brought Wanda Ghaur control, alongside Jean Grey, Invisible Woman, She-Hulk, Storm, Dagger, and the Atlantean Andromeda. Scarlet Witch's powers proved instrumental in Set's return, and his defeat ultimately freed Scarlet Witch and the other brides.

12 Iron Man

The MCU isn't the first time Scarlet Witch has been adapted for the screen. She appeared in The Marvel Super Heroes and X-Men: The Animated Series before she starred in the 1994 Iron Man animated series. This animated version of Scarlet Witch fell in love with Tony Stark.

  • She was Wanda Frank in the animated series, taking her name from her adopted father, The Whizzer

11 Cyclops

On Earth-94041 that appeared in What If...? #60, the two were actually lovers instead of rivals.

  • "What If? Scott Summers and Jean Grey Had Never Fallen in Love at All?" explored their relationship
  • Jean Grey fell in love with Angel instead, which drove Cyclops away from the X-Men
  • This version of the Scarlet Witch never left her father's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to join the Avengers

In this reality, Cyclops didn't fall in love with Jean Grey and didn't become the leader of the X-Men. He instead joins the Brotherhood and falls in love with Wanda. Like Scarlet Witch, Cyclops has had one major love interest in his life, but there have been other potential candidates.

10 Hawkeye

Hawkeye went searching for Wanda after his resurrection and found her recuperating in a secluded village with no memory of her past. 9 Nightcrawler

Iron Man wasn't the only animated series where Scarlet Witch appeared. She also appeared in the 2008 series Wolverine and the X-Men. In that series, she lived in Genosha with her father, Magneto, and sister, Polaris. When the X-Men arrived to pay a visit, she fell in love with Nightcrawler.

8 Nocturne

The animated series wasn't the only time that Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch were an item. On Earth-2182, they got together and had a daughter named Talia Josephine Wagner. As Nocturne, she first appeared in X-Men: Millennial Visions #1 in a kind of What If? image before making her in-comics debut in Blink #4 by Scott Lobdell, Judd Winick, Trevor McCarthy, Rodney Ramos, Rick Ketcham, Tyson, McAdoo, Liquid!, Richard Starkings, Comicraft, and Saida Temofonte.

  • TJ Wagner was a member of her reality's X-Men, which was led by Nightcrawler

Nocturne would eventually become one of the best members of the Exiles, which was a reality-hopping team of mutants. The appearance of Nocturne on the superhero team highlighted the potential success of a relationship between Scarlet Witch and Nightcrawler in the mainstream universe.

7 Doctor Doom

Set after the Scarlet Witch's disappearance in House Of M, Wanda's twin children Billy/Wiccan and Tommy/Speed headed out in search of their missing mother. They surprisingly found her in Latveria as the apparent lover of Doctor Doom. Wiccan helped Wanda remember the past and break the spell that Doom had over her, which revealed the villain's ultimate role in her downfall.

6 Captain America

When Scarlet Witch first joined the Avengers, she had a bit of a crush on Captain America. That didn't last, as she quickly met and fell deeply in love with The Vision. Many years later, they would revisit their attraction. Captain America's love interests are as varied and complicated as Wanda's are, but they both probably want to forget this short-lived relationship.

They rekindled their romance in 2004's Captain America and the Falcon #6 by writer Christopher Priest and artist Joe Bennett. It occurred right as Wanda descended into the darkness of Avengers: Disassembled. Both parties have largely forgotten their brief romance.

5 Quicksilver

A romance many fans surely want to forget is the strange affair between Scarlet Witch and her twin brother, Quicksilver, in the Ultimate Comics universe. Marvel Ultimate was notorious for embracing a darker sensibility than the mainstream Marvel line, eventually culminating in the many disturbing moments from the Ultimatum storyline.

  • Wanda joined the Ultimates with her brother as members of their Black Ops squad
  • Wolverine discovered the twins' secret romantic relationship in the Savage Land

Prior to that event, the relationship between siblings Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch turned physical. This information helped manipulate their father Magneto. It remained one of the oddest creative decisions in the Ultimate universe and helped prepare fans for its end.

4 Ultron

The Ultimates 3 by Jeph Loeb and Joe Madureira first showcased Scarlet Witch's relationship with her twin, Quicksilver, in Marvel's Ultimate universe. However, it also featured a unique twist that led to the death of the Ultimate Scarlet Witch and kicked off a dark mystery that shattered the Ultimates.

Notable Traits/Relationship Moments:

  • Ultimate Hank Pym created the Ultron units to assist the Avengers in battle
  • Ultron created the new identity of Yellowjacket to take down the Avengers

A malfunctioning Ultron unit killed Scarlet Witch with a DNA-encoded bullet. The android had become infatuated with Scarlet Witch after she flirted with it and magically altered its programming. Doctor Doom further modified the Ultron unit to manipulate Magneto and kick off the series of events leading to Ultimatum.

3 Wonder Man

Wanda's most significant romance in the comics outside of The Vision is the former Avengers' villain turned Wonder Man. Simon Williams and The Vision share a strange but powerful connection. Williams provided the original brain patterns for the Vision. Wonder Man was instrumental in resurrecting Vision after his destruction.

  • Wonder Man is an ionic being who was briefly trapped in Rogue's body
  • He refused to give Vision his brain patterns again because he loved Wanda
  • Scarlet Witch was Wonder Man's anchor and allowed him to come back to life

The connection between the two heroes complicated things for Wanda. Simon was in love with her and she saw many of the same things in him that she did in Vision. Wanda's feelings for Simon were finally realized, and they have had a troubled on-and-off relationship ever since.

2 Doctor Voodoo

Jericho Drumm was originally known as Brother Voodoo before he became the new Sorcerer Supreme. He changed his name to honor both his own educated training and the former magic-user in the role, Doctor Strange. He used his mystical specialties, training as a psychologist and spiritual connection to his dead brother Daniel as Doctor Voodoo.

  • Scarlet Witch was a possible candidate for the role of Sorcerer Supreme before Drumm

Without a doubt, Scarlet Witch's greatest relationship is with The Vision. They shared a connection since their first meeting in the early days of the Avengers. They are unique among the Avengers since their relationship has been allowed to progress in a way that is at least familiar to readers.

Notable Traits/Relationship Moments:

  • They revealed their feelings for each other during the Kree/Skrull War
  • Wanda created their children using fragments of Mephisto's soul
  • Their relationship ended when Vision was rebuilt without emotions

Wada and Vision married in Giant-Size Avengers #4 — by Steve Englehart, Don Heck, John Tartaglione, Petra Goldberg, and Charlotte Jetter — and later had two children, Thomas and William. Their attempts at domestic bliss ended in tragedy, and for the larger Marvel Universe, disaster. The key moments of their lives played out in WandaVision while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness explored the consequences of that trauma.
