If any hero in the Marvel Universe has embodied courage and honor, it would be Steve Rodgers, aka Captain America. The first hero to emerge during WWII, Captain America would be found frozen in ice after stopping an attack by the Red Skull decades after the end of the war, and would emerge as one of the modern day heroes of the Marvel Universe.

Yet not every version of Captain America across the Marvel multiverse is the same. Some are more powerful, others less heroic, and some are downright evil. Here are the most powerful alternate versions of Captain America.

10 Vampire Captain America

One shocking version of Captain America the average reader may not have heard of is the Vampire Captain America. Taking place on Earth-3931, this version of Cap was part of a team of Avengers who were infected and turned into vampires by Baron Blood.

On this Earth, the Exiles arrived and tried to restore Cap’s world, but he and the other Avengers bloodlust got the better of them and they attacked, turning Sunfire into a vampire. Mimic would end up taking Cap’s head off using Wolverine’s claws, and later a cured Sunfire destroyed them for good.

9 Civil War Captain America

Fans know the story of Captain America and his battle against his longtime friend and ally Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in the superhero civil war. Civil War is one of Marvel’s more modern and highly regarded storylines in the last few decades.

Yet during Secret Wars a few years ago, an alternate world in which the Civil War never ended was introduced, with six years passing until the nation was divided between General America on the West side of the country known as the Blue and the East controlled by Iron Man on the East side of the country known as The Iron.

8 Kiyoshi Morales

Also known as Commander A, Kiyoshi Morales is one of the more powerful future versions of Captain America, and appeared in the limited series Captain America Corps. This hero is known for their roots of being Latino, African-American, Japanese, and Native American.

What makes this hero unique is the fact they are also a descendent of Luke Cage, making it a continuation of the heroics established by the original heroes of the Marvel Universe. Commander A sported two energy based shields, much like Cap did when he lost his original vibranium shield.

7 Roberta Mendez

When Secret Wars took control of the multiverse, many worlds found themselves within the Battleworld created in the course of the event. One example of this is the Marvel 2099 universe, which saw a new Captain America created during the event by Alchemex.

This version was Roberta Mendez, who was forced to become Captain America and take the super soldier serum by her then husband. This created two distinct personalities in Roberta, with one being Captain America and the other Roberta herself. She is found to have survived the event later on and works with Miguel O’Hara at Parker Industries.

6 Danielle Cage

One hero of the Marvel Universe who has taken on the mantle of multiple heroes over the years is the future daughter of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, Danielle Cage. This hero comes from an alternate future of the Marvel Universe where New York City has been flooded, and she takes on the mantle of Captain America.

With the powers of both her parents coursing through her veins, Danielle used the magnetic components of Steve Rodgers shield to complete her Captain America look, and would return to join the U.S. Avengers years later.

5 Captain Colonies

Ironically, one of the more powerful versions of Captain America isn’t known as Captain America, but rather Captain Colonies. This is because he hails from an alternate universe where he is a member of the esteemed multiversal league of heroes known as the Captain Britain Corps.

The Captain Britain Corps is an entire league similar to the Green Lantern Corps, but is made up of various Captain Britain heroes from across the multiverse, with untold power as well. This makes Captain Colonies a powerful addition to the long line of Captain Americas of the multiverse.

4 Secret Empire Captain America

One of the biggest and most powerful versions of Captain America to emerge in recent years is none other than Secret Empire Captain America. One of the most evil versions of the character to exist, this Captain America was created by the power of the living cosmic cube in an attempt to rewrite history and make Cap one of the leaders of Hydra.

He leads an attack that seals the Earth off from some of the world’s most powerful heroes, and leaves the rest of the heroes fighting a war against Hydra’s forces.

3 Sam Wilson

The third most powerful version of Captain America is the one and only Sam Wilson, formerly known as the hero Falcon. Formerly an ally of Steve Rodgers, his years of heroism and service lead him to assume the mantle of Captain America in the new age of the Avengers.

Working alongside heroes like Jane Foster’s Thor and Spider-Man, Sam Wilson showed his heroics and leadership skills during his time as the hero, proving his worth ten times over.

2 MCU Captain America

The second most powerful hero in the line of Captain Americas across the multiverse is the Steve Rodgers of the MCU. Played by Chris Evans, this Captain America saw the horrors of WWII, was thrust into the future out of his own time, and forced to become a modern day hero fighting against corrupt government organizations, aliens, robots, and the end of the world.

His final battle saw him becoming worthy enough to wield the mighty hammer Mjolnir from Thor, and fought toe to toe with Thanos the Mad Titan, nearly defeating him in battle on his own.

1 Soldier Supreme

The most powerful version of Captain America to exist in the multiverse is none other than Soldier Supreme, the version of the hero that exists in the Infinity Warps universe. In this world where the heroes of the universe had merged with one another, Steve Rodgers merged with Doctor Steven Strange to become the Soldier Supreme, a hero born of magic.

Using his mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme, Soldier Supreme fought in WWII and beyond using his combination of military training and mysticism to fight against the enemy.
