One of the most iconic and popular heroes to emerge throughout the years at Marvel Comics (and most recently thanks to the MCU) is Black Panther. The young prince who ascended to the role of King of Wakanda, T’Challa also inherited the role of Black Panther, the nation’s protector and eventually one of the leading heroes of the world.

Yet there are a lot of different versions of the character to exist in the multiverse. From members of multiversal police forces to apocalyptic worlds and monsters bringing nothing but destruction, here are the ten most powerful alternate versions of Black Panther.

10 Bronze Tiger

The first of the alternate versions of Black Panther worth mentioning comes from the Amalgam Comics universe, which saw the combination of Marvel and DC heroes. In this version of the hero, we see T’Challa merged with Bronze Tiger of the DC Comics universe to form Bronze Tiger, aka B’Nchalla the King of Wakanda.

The hero retains his title and mantle in this combination, and appeared in the 1996 Marvel Comics comic Bullets and Bracelets #1, which also featured Thanoseid and The Punisher (Steve Trevor and Frank Castle).

9 The Panther

One powerful version of the character is the hero for the Exiles known simply as The Panther. The son of T’Challa and Storm, T’Chaka serves as a member of the inter dimensional team known as the Exiles. Hailing from Earth-1119, he was recruited onto the team after being attacked by Klaw on his Earth during an expedition.

What distinguished him from other heroes to take up the Black Panther mantle was that he was not stoic like his father, but instead was quick with the quips and flirted constantly. After his passing, his sister assumed his mantle.

8 Mutant X Black Panther

One unique alternate version of Black Panther comes from the world of Mutant X, the storyline that saw Havok transported to an alternate world where he is married to Madelyn Prior, has a son named Scotty and runs a team known as The Six. The plot involves Madelyn becoming possessed by the Goblin Entity, anti-mutant sentiment leading to imprisonment and mutant’s perishing in camps, and the end of that world.

During this event, one hero who emerged was a humanoid Black Panther, who emerged during the second wave of heroes to perish fighting the Beyonder.

7 Chieftain Justice

Black Panther

In the Marvel multiverse there is a force of good composed of heroes who operate known as the Captain Britain Corps. They combine the total power and source of power for every Captain Britain to exist across the multiverse itself. One hero who fits this bill is Chieftain Justice, the T’Challa of another Earth that has become that world’s Captain Britain.

Hailing from Earth-6606, Chieftain Justice is a powerful hero of his world who sports the same powers of the Captain Britain Corps, making him a powerful ally to the multiversal heroes.

6 King

The Panther was not the only version of the Black Panther to serve as a member of the inter dimensional team of heroes known as the Exiles. One such hero in fact hailed from a world where the heroes of the Marvel Universe were born into the era of the wild west.

The hero in question was named King, and was a gunslinger who wore a vibranium outfit that protected his body and used vibranium bullets in his weaponry, making him a powerful addition to the team.

5 Earth X Black Panther

The next Black Panther becomes a powerful hero after he is entrusted on his world with the protection of the Cosmic Cube by Captain America himself. That hero is the T’Challa of Earth X, where like most of the people of humanity had become infected with the mutative event that drove the plot of the story forward.

His mutation caused him to become a humanoid Black Panther, and he was given the task of protecting the Cosmic Cube from everyone at all cost, even Captain America himself.

4 Ghost Panther

During a recent event known as Infinity Warps, several heroes of the Marvel universe found themselves fused together into brand new heroes, creating a brand new existing universe. In this universe, Black Panther found himself combined with the hero Ghost Rider to become Ghost Panther.

In this world, T’Challa was a Prince of Wakanda who was selfish and arrogant, and was exiled as a result. He found a home when he became a stunt performer, changing his name to Johnny Blaze. He perished in an accident when sensing his own father’s demise, and accepted the role of Ghost Panther from the demon Zarathos to avenge his father.

3 Ultimate Black Panther

The Black Panther of the Ultimate Universe is far different than the T’Challa most fans know. In this universe, T’Challa was severely injured during the Trial of the Panther, and his father agreed to share technology with the America in exchange for saving T’Challa’s life, much to the dismay of his other son M’Baku.

Healed and experimented on in the Weapon X program, he is rescued by SHIELD and becomes an unwilling asset of the agency, much to his father’s dismay, until Captain America helps him escape. He has enhanced speed, strength, night vision and adamantium cat claws that emerge from his knuckles.

2 Coal Tiger

In the MC2 universe, there is a version of the Black Panther that is quite unique. The son of T’Challa is T’Chaka II, named after his grandfather. When a group of racist villains known as the Soldiers of the Serpent attacked a friend of T’Challa on a diplomatic mission, T’Chaka II charged into battle alongside that world’s version of the Avengers known as A-Next.

Showing his unique ability to shape shift into a panther like creature, his enhanced strength, speed, and razor claws led him to be an asset not only then, but in future battles with Magneto and the Revengers.

1 MCU Black Panther

The most powerful Black Panther of the entire Marvel multiverse and the most powerful alternate Black Panther of the main 616 version of the hero is the MCU version of the character. The T’Challa played by actor Chadwick Boseman has demonstrated a powerful understanding of both the heroic side of the character and the royal leader side of the character.

Leading Wakanda against not only Killmonger but the forces of Thanos not once but twice, T’Challa proved how powerful a leader and hero he has become in the MCU, ready to lead the next generation of heroes for the Avengers and beyond.
