The heroes of the Marvel Universe are amongst the most powerful heroes to ever exist. While many beloved heroes like Iron Man or Black Widow were mere humans with either extreme intelligence and an aptitude for engineering or skilled assassins and soldiers, many other heroes were born or gifted great and immense power sets.

These power sets have varied over the years, but one of the most powerful power sets in the Marvel Universe involves controlling the planet’s weather. From calling thunderstorms or controlling the wind speed against a foe, here are the ten most powerful heroes to control the weather in the Marvel Universe.

10 Weather Witch

In recent years, a whole new wave of heroes have emerged into the Marvel Universe. One such hero is the Chinese hero Weather Witch, one of several new heroes who joined the Chinese military unit of superheroes known as the Dynasty. First appearing in order to help Iron Man stop the Mandarin, Weather Witch has powers very similar to Storm of the X-Men.

She helped save Tony Stark after being imprisoned and forced to build weapons for the Mandarin, and after helping fight Thanos and his forces during Infinity, she helped build a new team known as the Ascendents, which she led, after The Dynasty disbanded.

9 Nature Girl

The next hero to use her abilities to manipulate and control the weather is Lin Li, aka Nature Girl. A mutant student at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, she showcased an immediate ability to commune and form a bond on a higher level with animals and nature in general.

When the team relocated to Central Park, Nature Girl joined Jubilee’s team of students at the order of X-Men leader Kitty Pryde. She has fought foes such as Faithful John, Emplate, and the Rat King, and was even able to get a warning of an impending threat to the school thanks to her powers.

8 Brother Voodoo

Another way that heroes of the Marvel Universe are able to manipulate and control the weather is through the practice of magic itself. One such practitioner of the mystical arts who can also manipulate the weather is Jericho Drumm, aka Brother Voodoo. The master of mysticism and one time Sorcerer Supreme has always been one of the most proficient magic wielders in the Avengers universe.

While Brother Voodoo is known for many magical abilities, one he doesn’t get to show off as often is his ability to manipulate energy and weather, something that comes in handy when facing a natural born threat.

7 Nathaniel Grey

One powerful mutant who became popular during the Age of Apocalypse era of X-Men comics also had the ability to ionize the atmosphere and control and create rain and storms. That mutant was Nathaniel Grey, the artificially created son of Cyclops and Jean Grey at the hands of none other than Mister Sinister.

Not knowing he was his son, Cyclops helped the rapidly aged Nathaniel escape. Nathaniel ended up being trained and raised by Forge. Surviving many events, he was last seen during the event Age of X-Man, where he had attempted to create a utopia for the X-Men but failed.

6 Beta Ray Bill

One powerful hero and ally of Thor over the years has been Beta Ray Bill, an alien warrior of the Korbinite people who was chosen by his people to lead them to a new home after the powerful villain Surtur destroyed their home. Cybernetically enhanced and changed into the fierce warrior he was, he found himself worthy of Thor’s power and became an ally of Thor and the Asgardians.

Given his own hammer by Odin named Stormbreaker, Beta Ray Bill went on many adventures after arriving in the Milky Way Galaxy with his people. One power he gained as a result was weather manipulation.

5 Gaea

One powerful force of good in the universe who can also control the weather is the Elder God known as Gaea, the Mother Goddess. After the other Elder Gods began eating one another and turning into demonic entities, including her brother Chthon, she had a child with the Demiurge known as the sun-god Atum, who destroyed most of the demons other than Set and Chthon.

This left Gaea to guide the planet Earth through the evolutionary process, while her son Atum became one with the Sun itself. Gaea over the years has aided and become part of the larger Marvel Universe.

4 Jean Grey

One hero who is not known at all for this particular power but has the power within her skill set is the tortured hero and original member of the X-Men, Jean Grey. A major aspect of Jean as a character and hero is her ability to channel and use her powers of telekinesis. As a result, she is able to manipulate things on a molecular level.

One way this occurs is by giving her power over the weather and the molecules needed to affect and control weather in Earth’s atmosphere. Not only that, but she is strong enough to conjure up a destructive firestorm with her power.

3 Jane Foster

One relatively new hero to the Marvel Universe (within the last decade), that has been able to control the weather is Jane Foster. While originally Thor’s love interest and human ally, Dr. Jane Foster underwent a transformation in recent years after she was chosen by the All-Mother to become the new Thor, after her son was found unworthy for a time.

The new female Thor became a staple of the Marvel Universe for a long time, even joining the Avengers. While Thor has since regained his power and title, Jane now works as the new iteration of the hero Valkyrie.

2 Thor

The second most prolific and powerful hero to control the weather in the Marvel Universe is none other than the God of Thunder himself, Thor. The longtime Prince of Asgard and recently crowned King of Asgard, Thor has always been able to manipulate the weather with his power set, especially thanks to his hammer Mjolnir, who holds the power of a great storm within it.

The powers of Thor are able to conjure up thunderstorms and powerful lightning blasts, as well as give him the ability to fly. This has made him the staple that he is amongst the Avengers.

1 Storm

The most powerful hero to ever have the ability to control the weather is the longtime X-Men member and team leader Storm. Otherwise known as Ororo Munroe, Storm is a descendent of a long line of African priestesses who found herself living on the streets for a time before being found by Charles Xavier, who recruited her years later to join the X-Men.

Also the onetime wife of Black Panther and leader of Wakanda, Storm is one of the most powerful mutants on Earth, and is able to manipulate the weather like no other hero or villain on Earth.
