When it comes to the pantheon of X-Men characters only a few have come to be as recognizable to the masses as the master of magnetism, Magneto. This misunderstood "villain" turned hero as well as X-Men leader has basically become one of the main X-Men characters no matter when he shows up. He's even recognized as one of the most important characters in the Marvel vs Capcom series due to his playstyle and tier placements in the second and third installments.

Like most comic characters, his long time as one of the main faces in the books has come with many different redesigns and costume changes. Thankfully in the case of Magneto, many of these costumes have been as great as the first.

10 Jim Lee's Magneto/The Original

The original Magneto outfit is one of the most perfect comic book costumes there is. From the bucket helmet to the amazingly coordinated colors, this outfit hits all the best spots when it comes to an iconic look.

Jim Lee took this costume to the next level with his amazing art and perfect coloring as seen with his iconic cover. In fact, many associate this design with Lee due to his influence on the X-Men, with many placing the success of the series in his and this run's hands.

9 Age of X Magneto

The Age of X look for Magneto is one that shows just how great the magnetic master looks in white. It also perfectly reflects his place in an alternate reality than where Age of X takes place.

In this world, the X-Men are the defenders of the last members of mutant-kind. Magneto himself creates a bastion called Fortress X, where the remaining surviving mutants are located. His armor and this job go hand in hand with him being one of the last guardians of his race.

8 X-Men Blue

The series X-Men Blue featured Magneto in yet another new look, this time a much more simple one that's basically a recolor of the original. This darker costume fit, as he'd given up his old self for the role of teaching the original X-Men that were time-displaced in the current world of Marvel.

One amazing touch added to this was the small black colored touches such as the shiny black helmet. The fact that he kept the purple cape was great too, as it truly pops when partnered with the muted colors that are present on the rest of the suit.

7 X-Men Blue Armored

During X-Men Blue, Magneto also fashioned himself a second new look for the series. This one came about whenever he went into a dangerous battle and decided to armor up, which he did in the midst of battle.

Unlike many heavily armored looks that can sometimes completely ruin a comic character, this one doesn't do it wrong. The additions feel like a natural evolution to the Magneto look, with him using his power over metal to give himself an edge in battle.

6 Dawn of X

As said earlier, white is a color that looks absolutely amazing on Magneto, and his costume in the Dawn of X series really drives that home.

After Magneto becomes one of mutant-kind's leaders during this series, the white is very fitting for him. He also finally dons the X-Men logo on his belt front and center, showing that he's finally moved past his differences with the mutant team and joined forces. The black lines also greatly add to the badass factor of this look.

5 White Uncanny X-Men

Another great white and black look for Magneto is the sleeveless white suit that he shows up in during the Uncanny X-Men. While many believe that the sleeveless look is a bit too much, it actually makes him look quite badass and more powerful than ever.

This is especially the case when he is shown with shadows completely covering his face under the helmet. Each of these pieces come together to make one of the most menacing looks for Magneto ever.

4 Xorn

Xorn stares intensely, from Grant Morrison' New X-Men in Marvel Comics

Xorn was a very weird concept introduced in New X-Men Annual 2001. This character was depicted as a Chinese mutant but was eventually revealed to be Magneto in disguise after being "killed" during the destruction of Genosha.

Afterward, there was revealed to be an actual Xorn which went against the concept's creator, Grant Morrison's wishes with them believing that there should have never been an actual Xorn, as it goes against the point of him. Sadly, Marvel retconned this big plot twist and brought back Xorn once Morrison left the series.

3 Age of Apocalypse

The Magneto of Earth-295 has a look that basically mirrors the classic look, meaning it's definitely one of the best.

Besides the longer hair and elongated helmet, it's basically cut and paste but with hair that makes Magneto manage to look even cooler. Especially for those who like long-haired heroes.

2 Ultimate Magneto

Magneto's look in the Ultimate Comics also pulls a lot from his original appearance but with the addition of more casual clothing underneath the cape.

The helmet partnered with a simple red shirt and black pants somehow make Magneto look cool and dangerous all at once as well. It's a look that should be repeated in the future.

1 Black and White Uncanny X-Men

The black and white sleeveless look for Magneto is yet another of his more menacing looks.

Much like its white primary counterpart, it can be very fearsome when his face is covered, making this one Magneto look that makes him look even stronger than usual. In this form, he is definitely a character not to be messed with.
