Since there is currently no Iron Fist title on the stands from Marvel Comics, leave it to Deadpool to broaden the mythology of the Living Weapon. The story behind the mantle of the Iron Fist is one steeped in magic and mysticism. It's about dragons and temples from other dimensions, as well as sacred warriors and martial arts tournaments. The very power of the Iron Fist's chi comes from within, and it's a magic that stems from Shou-Lao the Undying. At almost every turn, Iron Fist's major stories were rooted in mysticism.

However, in 2014, Danny Rand's life was turned upside down thanks to a new kind of threat that mixed the mystical with the technological in the All-New Marvel NOW! series Iron Fist: The Living Weapon by Kaare Andrews. Now, thanks to Deadpool: Assassin #1, we see another wrinkle added to the technological side of the Iron Fist mythology thanks to the introduction of an entire clan of tech-powered Iron Fist fighters.

Deadpool fights Iron Fist clan

The new Deadpool miniseries literally drops Wade in the middle of a temple in Bagalia, where a former member of the Hand, Shuten Doji, is building his own super-army by mixing magic and science. At first, Deadpool goes up against your more traditional ninjas, but it isn't long before another group of fighters rush to attack him. This clan is wearing an armor meant to echo the look of the Iron Fist, and they each have a fiery, glowing hand. They prove themselves the superior fighters thanks to the power of the Living Weapon -- but Deadpool isn't exactly one to play fair.

With a few grenades, the mercenary blows the Iron Fists to smithereens. To add insult to injury, he even takes one of their severed arms for himself. It's with this act that we realize these Iron Fists were powered by a biotech equipment embedded in their hands. It might not be as strong as the real deal, but it's still powerful enough to give Deadpool a run for his money and to properly defeat Shuten Doji with a swift, glowing punch.

Now sure, Iron Fist was nowhere to be seen in this altercation, but now that this equipment exists in the Marvel Universe, it's only a matter of time before Danny Rand finds himself faced with an entire army of Iron Fists. Then, readers will be in for a fight of truly epic proportions.
