Captain America and Iron Man are about to face off against a foe that combines the greatest strengths of both heroes.

Two of the most powerful Avengers are due for a team-up in the pages of Captain America/Iron Man, a five-issue miniseries written by Derek Landy with art by Angel Unzueta. The series picks up where Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, as a young woman named Veronica Eden makes her play to become the leader of Hydra, prompting Steve and Tony to track her down before she can amass her own army. The journey will see the pair cross paths with many sinister villains from the Marvel Universe, including one notable armor that both heroes would rather see left behind -- Hydra Cap. This iron-clad Hydra Cap appears on the cover of Captain America/Iron Man #4, drawn by Alex Ross.

Hydra Cap was a variant of Steve Rogers from another world who tricked the inhabitants of the Marvel Universe into thinking he was the real deal. The character was featured prominently in Secret Empire, where he donned a suit of green and gold Iron Man-like armor that represented his allegiance to Hydra. The villain was ultimately defeated by Steve Rogers and later was seemingly killed during Ta-Nehisi Coates' Captain America run. However, the cover for February's Captain America/Iron Man #4 seems to tease that Hydra Cap's legacy will live on, as the two heroes are shown fighting against an unknown combatant in the armor. Marvel's solicit text for the issue also mentions that the pair will be going up against the Overseer, a scientist who hails from the planet Spyre, home of the Human Torch's wife, Sky.

The ghosts of Steve Rogers's past have haunted the hero throughout the past year, forcing Captain America to confront his complicated legacy. Cap recently fought against the horrifying return of his original villain, who was trying to ruin the perception of America itself. Joined by the likes of Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson and John Walker, Steve assembled a team of Captains America to save the day, but it wasn't without its costs. Despite his victory, the conflict left Steve with questions about his value as a hero and if the price of freedom was worth the pain of war.

Cap's cry for help couldn't come at a worse time for Tony Stark, who has been plagued by his own share of problems of late. Recently, Tony assembled a group of heroes to venture into space and stop Michael Korvac from regaining his cosmic powers. The misfit team arrived too late though and Korvac became an intergalactic threat once more, forcing Tony to make a power-play of his own and become an Iron God by stepping through a gateway into the unknown. Now wielding more power than he has ever had before, Tony Stark looks to become his own worst enemy in the year to come, as he fights his inner demons on a quest to protect the planet.
