Their love survived beyond death, and Mystique risked everything to have Destiny back, fundamentally changing Krakoan society once they were reunited.

It can be argued that Cyclops and Emma Frost are a better relationship, but there's also no doubt that Jean and Cyclops finally getting married was an epic event for X-Men fans. Scott and Jean's marriage gave the team an interesting dynamic they didn't have before. One of the most intriguing parts of their relationship was watching it end in New X-Men. By the time Morrison took over the book, all the story potential for their marriage had been wrung out.
