The House of Mouse keeps coming with surprises from the D23 Expo in Anaheim, as Marvel Comics is partnering with SiriusXM and Pandora for a station dedicated to the New York-based publisher's 80th-anniversary celebration.
Marvel, in collaboration with SiriusXM and Pandora, will launch an all-new exclusive music station and limited-time channel Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics #1000.
Marvel's partnership for the station can be felt in its official announcement. The entertainment company describes the station as:
The celebratory music programming, specially curated by Marvel with Pandora and SiriusXM, features some of the most iconic songs through the ages, including classics from Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley; era-defining songs from The Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, and Prince; and explosive chart-topping hits from Eminem, Kanye West, The Weeknd, and more from the most popular music artists across generations.
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee correspondent Mike Rubens will host the specialty station, combining year-to-year commentary on the Marvel Universe. Besides music, the station will focus on real-life events, pop culture and music starting from 1939, the year of Marvel's debut.
"Marvel Comics #1000 goes through each year of Marvel’s history and embodies the spirit of the times, the culture, and our superheroes in a way fans have never seen before," said Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski. "Music has always been a crucial element to capturing that feeling. As we continue to tell our stories and celebrate our 80th anniversary, we couldn’t be more excited to launch these music platforms for fans to enjoy and take a trip through some of the biggest milestones of the Marvel Universe."
Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics #1000 will launch on Aug. 29. It will be available on the Pandora app as well as for a special pop-up Marvel radio channel on SiriusXM through its satellite and streaming platform and On Demand. The station is a companion for Marvel Comics #1000, which hits comic shops Aug. 28.
