A new ongoing series starring Weapon H, the breakout character from the Weapon X/Totally Awesome Hulk “Weapon of Mutant Destruction” crossover, was announced at New York Comic Con, but details on its creative team and release date were held back at the time. Marvel Comics has now revealed writer Greg Pak (Weapon X, Totally Awesome Hulk) and artist Cory Smith (X-Men Blue) will helm the series, which is set for release in March. The series' first cover is illustrated by Leinil Yu.

“Greg Pak wrote one of the biggest and most action packed Hulk stories ever in Planet Hulk…so it only made sense that he brought those same sensibilities to Weapon H,” editor Darren Shan said in a statement. “We’re going to pit him against the biggest threats of the Marvel Universe that you can imagine, starting with a new kind of Wendigo! And then Cory Smith is going to multiply that times ten and smash the hell out of it with his incredible art! Whether you read his first appearance in Weapon X: The Hunt for Weapon H or not, you’re going to find that we only scratched the surface of this bombastic new character!”

What would happen if scientists manufactured a Wolverine/Hulk hybrid was the premise behind the Weapon X/Hulk crossover event. In the storyline, a resurrected Weapon X Project somehow mixed Wolverine and Hulk’s DNA to create a Hulk with adamantium claws. The resulting Weapon X character debuted in Totally Awesome Hulk #22.

Weapon H #1, from Greg Pak and Cory Smith, arrives in March.
