Marvel has been working on an Avengers game for quite some time. The game seems to be focused on the disbanding of the group, after a national crisis and the supposed death of Captain America. The villains of the game are very clear. A.I.M. will be the main antagonists.

But, Marvel have been very slow to reveal what heroes will be playable. While some have been confirmed and it is said that there will be lots of free roster expansions in the future, there's also a lot of mystery surrounding the types of characters that will be available to play as. There's a lot of interesting heroes with diverse power sets which would be a lot of fun to fight with against the evil forces of the Marvel Universe.

10 Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch

The Scarlet Witch has both mutant and magic abilities. She's very skilled in sorcery and her hex powers give her an unexpected edge in terms of what could actually happened.

Visually these powers would be stunning as part of game play but in terms of the mechanics there's also a lot of fun things that could happen with the unpredictability of her hex magic.

9 Quicksilver

Quicksilver

Much like his twin sister, Quicksilver would be a really interesting character to play as. The Avenger and former villain is one of the most underrated characters on the Marvel roster.

However, his power set would be so different to work with, if there's a chance that players can use Quicksilver in the game. His super speed would be something that fans don't often get to utilise in a video game.

8 Doctor Strange

Marvel Comics

The sorcerer supreme is rarely featured in big Marvel games and its unclear why that is. Now that the popularity of the character has increased due to the films, it seems odd not to include the master of the mystic arts.

His magical abilities are slightly different to that of Scarlet Witch and it would be great to see a number of magical artefacts come into the game play along with the character. The cloak of levitation is a must but spell books like the Darkhold could also be compelling to use.

7 Black Panther

Black Panther in Wakanda

It would be a real shame if Wakanda wasn't included in the game, but the likelihood of it happening is high. If this nation is one of the famous locations featured then its King should also get a starring role.

A Black Panther mission in the jungles of the country, perhaps against characters like Klaw and Man-Ape, would be so much fun to play. What's more, he's such a unique Avenger that he'd be a great addition to the team up situations.

6 Hawkeye

Strangely, almost all of the original MCU Avengers have been featured in the game marketing apart from Hawkeye. His abilities could be quite easily included in the game mechanics.

There's certainly a lot of different gadgets the character could use and there's a tonne of design opportunities when it comes to the trick arrows the archer could utilise.

5 Spider-Man

Spider-Man has already been the subject of a PS4 game recently and there is now confirmation that a Miles Morales follow up is in the works. This is great news for fans of the web-slinger.

Unfortunately, there's been no news on whether these gaming universes will cross over. It seems odd that the Taskmaster has appeared in both games, perhaps suggesting there are connections. A reunion between Miles and Kamala Khan would be compelling to watch though.

4 The Wasp

If Ant-Man is to be featured in the game then it's almost criminal if the Wasp isn't by his side. The two have been partners in crime for many years and compliment each other's abilities well.

What's more, the Wasp is an original Avenger after all and her powers of shrinking and growing while flying would make for some incredibly dynamic game play and perhaps even puzzle solving opportunities.

3 Luke Cage

Marvel's Luke Cage

The man with unbreakable skin will probably utilise brawling mechanics similar to that of Thor or the Hulk. But, what stands out about him is his personality and charisma.

His combat could still be made to be quite unique, especially because he can be put in more dangerous situations, but it also opens up the world of Harlem and perhaps even the Heroes For Hire in future updates.

2 She-Hulk

Again, She-Hulk will probably operate on brawling mechanics, but that wouldn't stop her from being so much fun to play with. The added benefit of the character is that she could really play into the story being formed.

It seems like the Avengers might need their very own lawyer and asides from Matt Murdoch, She-Hulk could be the best fit for the role. She would be a fantastic team mate to have.

1 Ironheart

Since the Avengers game seems to be looking to the future of the franchise there should be other characters that promote that change. One of the most obvious examples of this is Ironheart.

Giving Stark a mentor role as the future of the Avengers is formed would be an interesting narrative arc, plus Riri Williams' own suit of armor can contain some unique features you don't normally get with Stark's or perhaps War Machine's in the future.
