The Avengers have had a diverse roster in the past, but some of Marvel's best heroes have actually been overlooked in a number of ways. While some of these heroes have actually been left off the team entirely, others have been woefully undervalued.

Each of the characters on this list definitely has something big to give, but haven't been able to truly contribute to the Avengers. Here are 10 characters that have been overlooked by the core teams over the years, but really deserve another chance.

10 QUICKSILVER

Quicksilver fighting the avengers

Quicksilver might be a surprising choice since he's served in the Avengers many times over the years. However, in many of the incarnations of the team, the son of Magneto has been undervalued and often not trusted.

Due to his villainous past, sly nature, and the relationship with his sister, who has also been quite unstable, Quicksilver isn't a member who is relied upon often. While his powers cannot be denied, Quicksilver really deserves some recognition for his redemption.

9 ELEKTRA

Elektra has only recently truly joined the ranks of an Avengers team, but she's already one of the members that people are skeptical about. With a background as an assassin, she may never be respected fully by the higher up members of the Avengers.

Heroes like Daredevil understand the former Hand member much better than others like Cap, but this doesn't help her long term. Her history is too complex and bloody to really be the face of a team that's supposed to stand for so much more.

8 DARKHAWK

Darkhawk is a teenage hero that should really be in the big leagues, but has always been overlooked and passed over far too many times. Not only his look especially well designed, but his powers are actually extremely useful and strong.

It's a shame that Darkhawk isn't more of a household name by now, as he definitely has the ability to become one. While he's served on a few versions of the Avengers, he's never been considered for some of the most powerful lineups.

7 GHOST RIDER

Ghost Rider is one of the heroes that is usually feared by other members of the Marvel Universe. It may be because he can sense inner sin, or maybe due to the fact that his skull is on fire, but multiple versions of the character have been undervalued by the team.

It's rare to see the Ghost Rider on an Avengers roster and when he is, he often acts like a bit of a lone wolf. The character is so iconic within Marvel that you'd expect him to be up amongst the greats like Thor and Black Widow, but he never quite made it.

6 SQUIRREL GIRL

Squirrel Girl is the kind of hero that no one takes seriously, despite the fact that she seems to be undefeatable. She's beaten titans like Thanos and Galactus and could even be the key to the next stage of the MCU, perhaps adding some fun to phase four.

Despite the charming nature of the character, she really means business on the battlefield. Her gifts are nothing to be laughed at and she should really have a starring role on any premium Avengers team; not the side teams full of misfits and fallen heroes.

5 MOON KNIGHT

Moon Knight is set to have his own Disney + series which shows Marvel has a lot of faith in the character. Yet he's never really embraced a role on any Avengers team, perhaps because many of the other team members don't value him enough.

Many see him as quite erratic or don't quite understand where his gifts originate from. Despite all the white on the costume, he often operates in the shadows, which many heroes are not comfortable with. Plus, there was the whole Dracula incident.

4 AMADEUS CHO

Now that Cho is using the abilities of the Hulk he has earned respect, yet his massive intellect had been overlooked before this. Heroes like Tony Stark and Reed Richards, some of the smartest minds in the world, said that Cho was a genius.

Yet it was only really Hercules who believed in him and actually brought him along for adventures. Otherwise Amadeus would have never have had a slot on an Avengers team, as his abilities were overlooked; he was deemed as if he still wasn't quite good enough.

3 MS MARVEL

The original Ms Marvel had an excellent run as part of the Avengers before transitioning into her Captain Marvel title. The newest Ms Marvel, though, is so undervalued by the team that she eventually had to split away to form her own group.

Perhaps it's due to the age of her and the heroes around her, or maybe this can be linked to her inexperience, but Kamala Khan is often not listened to and not utilized to the best of her abilities, despite being the future of the team.

2 INVISIBLE WOMAN

The Invisible Woman is one of the most recognizable characters in Marvel and has served as part of the Fantastic Four for most of her career. Yet the Avengers have never seemed to treat her the same as the rest of the team.

The Thing and the Human Torch have both had ongoing roles with the team and even Mr Fantastic has dropped in and out, especially in his capacity with the Illuminati. The Invisible Woman finally needs to get the credit she deserves.

1 NAMOR

The King of Atlantis is respected, yet feared. He always puts the interests of his people first and this can cause a lot of conflict with the Avengers. At the same time, he's also assisted the team against a number of threats.

It seems that he has had many assumptions about him made in the years since, was has made the Avengers very reluctant to work alongside him. It's a shame as in the right circumstances he can be a great ally.
