Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe launched in 2008 with the debut of the live-action Iron Man, fans have been wondering which character from the comics will be joining the shared universe next. Familiar favorites like The Avengers have formed alongside lesser-known teams like the Guardians of the Galaxy to showcase the wide range of the MCU.

However, there are still a few characters from the Marvel Universe that might never get their own chance on the big screen, whether it's because they are too obscure or they just might have a difficult time co-existing alongside other established heroes or teams in the MCU.

10 Doctor Druid Has No Place In The MCU With Doctor Strange And Wong Around

10 Doctor Druid

There are quite a few magical characters in the MCU already following the introduction of heroes like Doctor Strange and Wong, Masters of the Mystic Arts who have both served as the Sorcerer Supreme. While there is plenty of room for more magical characters in the MCU, the inclusion of the mystic Doctor Druid might not happen anytime soon.

Not only does Doctor Druid fit in a similar role as Doctor Strange in the Marvel universe, but his role on the Avengers has already been filled in the MCU by Strange. Doctor Druid spent his career in the comics living in Doctor Strange's shadow, so it doesn't seem likely he would be introduced in the MCU to play second-fiddle once again.

9 Jack Of Hearts Is A Playing Card-Themed Avenger Who Can't Control His Powers

jack-of-hearts

The Avengers have welcomed a few interesting characters onto the team over the years that aren't likely to be adapted to the big screen, which includes the playing card-themed hero Jack Hart/Jack of Hearts.

The character has a unique backstory as a human/alien hybrid as well as a connection to a unique power source called Zero Fluid that gave him uncontrollable abilities, which resulted in his odd choice for a containment suit. Jack of Hearts is a complex character with a unique design that just might not translate well to the big screen.

8 Power Pack Are Heroic Siblings Who Gained Powers From A Dying Alien

Power Pack from Marvel Comics

While the youthful team known as Power Pack was included with an original slate of concept adaptations that helped sell investors on the MCU, there have been no further plans for the Power siblings to appear in live-action. The young siblings were granted their amazing abilities and a sentient spaceship from a dying Kymellian alien.

This brought them into an interstellar conflict and allowed them to fight crime alongside some of Marvel's most powerful heroes. While a Power Pack adaptation could bring something new to the MCU for a younger crowd like the Ms. Marvel series, the lack of development over the years means the characters just might not have a future on the big screen.

7 Ka-Zar Is The King Of The Savage Land Who Might Not Fit In The MCU

Ka-Zar takes in his jungle surroundings

Kevin Plunder was just a boy when he was orphaned in the Savage Land and raised by a mutant sabretooth tiger named Zabu. He became Ka-Zar, which meant son of the tiger in the native language of the Man-Apes in the prehistoric Savage Land.

The character was usually an ally of the X-Men, though he also worked with the Agents of Wakanda and even became a herald of Galactus. However, the character's initial similarities to other literary characters like Tarzan will like likely keep Ka-Zar off the big screen.

6 The Starjammers Stick To A Part Of The Galaxy Not Yet Explored In The MCU

marvel's starjammers

There are several characters from the X-Men's huge corner of the Marvel universe who might never get their chance to shine on the big screen, including the team of space pirates known as the Starjammers. Led by Cyclops and Havok's father, Major Christopher Summers/Corsair, the Starjammers have operated in Shi'ar space as both pirates and revolutionaries.

The Starjammers would be a fantastic addition to the MCU that could further build up the cosmic side of the Marvel universe, though their connection to the X-Men and the absence of the Shi'ar so far keeps them in the comic pages.

5 Cosmic Ghost Rider Might Be Too Much For Even The MCU To Handle

Cosmic Ghost Rider with defeated Marvel heroes

There are rumors that the spirit of vengeance known as Ghost Rider may be making his official MCU debut in the near future, as Robbie Reyes's live-action appearance on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't considered canon currently. However, while fans aren't sure which version of the character will appear in the MCU, it's a safe bet that it won't be the Cosmic Ghost Rider.

The mixture of Frank Castle with Ghost Rider who was powered by Galactus' Power Cosmic might prove to be just a bit too much for viewers to take in, given the mixture of three different power sets and character backstories as well as his existence in an alternate timeline.

4 Captain Universe Is A Powerful Cosmic Hero With Many Different Hosts

Tamara Devoux as Captain Universe

While the inclusion of the Enigma Force and its Uni-Power might add another cosmic layer to the MCU, it's still rather unlikely that fans will see Captain Universe make their appearance in the shared universe. Captain Universe is a super-powered character that changes hosts as needed to deal with various threats to existence.

The Avengers have welcomed a version of Captain Universe onto the team before, though it was a broken version that heralded the end of the universe. The shifting nature of the character and the numerous hosts of the Uni-Power would make it difficult to bring the character to the big screen with an established actor, making it unlikely fans will see Captain Universe on the big screen.

Inhumans-Darkhawk

The armored hero Darkhawk first appeared in the 90s when teenager Chris Powell found a strange amulet that transformed him into a powerful crimefighter who made New York City his home. However, the character received a cosmic upgrade years later that tied the Darkhawk armor to an ancient group known as the Fraternity of Raptors that helped shape galactic politics.

More recently, a new character named Connor Young found the Darkhawk armor but only served to highlight the character's inability to find his place outside of the 90s. While Darkhawk would be a great visual addition to the MCU, a live-action adaptation of the character might struggle as the comic version did over the years.

2 Quasar Isn't Fulfilling His Role As Protector Of The Universe In The MCU

Quasar powers up in space and gets ready for battle

Wendell Vaughn was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent when he was selected by a cosmic entity known as Eon to become Quasar and wield the powerful Quantum Bands as the new Protector of the Universe. Quasar gained incredible abilities that included interstellar travel, quantum teleportation, and the ability to create powerful energy constructs.

While either Vaughn or his successors like Phyla-Vell and Avril Kincaid would make a great addition to the MCU, it's apparent that the Protector of the Universe isn't present in the MCU, given the epic events that have threatened the galaxy during the "Infinity Saga."

1 Rick Jones' Time As A Sidekick To Marvel's Heroes Was Never Acknowledged

Rick Jones from Avengers Forever

The earliest heroes in the Marvel Universe like the Hulk, Captain America, Captain Marvel, and the Avengers all shared a common ally in Rick Jones, who served as a sidekick and friend to some of the biggest comic heroes.

Jones has had a number of adventures over the years and gained both powers and monstrous forms during his time with Captain Marvel and the Hulk. Rick Jones hasn't even been teased in the MCU despite most of his allies already spending years as established heroes, which could mean that Rick Jones' time to shine on the big screen has already passed.
