Recently revealed at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Spider-Man: Freshman Year is an upcoming animated series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set before Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War – the first MCU movie Spider-Man appeared in – Spider-Man: Freshman Year will cover the early days of Peter Parker as Spider-Man.

With characters like Daredevil and Doctor Strange appearing – two characters MCU Spider-Man didn't meet until long after Civil War – Freshman Year may take place in an alternate universe or separate continuity. Regardless, fan speculation has run wild with ideas of other potential guest characters for Spider-Man to fight alongside or against. Considering he has many allies and villains across the Marvel universe in the comics, it's a safe bet that the show will also feature some surprise guests.

10 The Human Torch Is One Of Spider-Man's Best Friends

As the fan-favorite member of Marvel's first family, The Fantastic Four, the Human Torch is one of the most important characters in Marvel history. An ally of Spider-Man, the Human Torch is technically the first teammate Spider-Man ever has, and they both feature in Marvel Team-Up #1 by Roy Thomas and Ross Andru.

Since then, Spider-Man and Human Torch have teamed up numerous times, like in their self-titled 2005 miniseries, Spider-Man/Human Torch by Dan Slott and Ty Templeton. Although, only describing Spider-Man and the Human Torch as allies isn't entirely correct, as the Human Torch is actually one of Spider-Man's closest friends in Marvel. In fact, when the Human Torch died in Fantastic Four #587, Spider-Man accepted the empty place on the team to honor his late friend.

9 Jessica Jones Is A High School Classmate Of Peter Parker

A well-established MCU character in her own right, Jessica Jones made her MCU debut in the Netflix series Jessica Jones. One of the best detectives in Marvel comics, Jessica Jones is a former high school classmate of Peter Parker, which opens a clear avenue for her to be part of Spider-Man: Freshman Year.

Though their friendship in the comics isn't as extensive as other friendships like Spider-Man and the Human Torch, Spider-Man and Jessica Jones have worked together as members of the Avengers before. They've also worked as partners on a murder case together in Blind Spot #4 by Kelly Thompson and Mattia De lulis. Though Jessica Jones hasn't appeared in a live-action Marvel adaptation since 2019, the recent return of Charlie Cox's Daredevil could be a sign that similar plans lay ahead for Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones.

8 Spider-Man Fans Want To See Hobgoblin In The MCU

One of the many underrated villains in Spider-Man's legendary rogues' gallery, Hobgoblin first appeared in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #43 by Roger Stern and Mike Zeck. A villain inspired by the Green Goblin, Hobgoblin stole Green Goblin's suit and created his own Goblin formula, transforming himself into a ghoulish crime lord.

With Norman Osborne, aka the Green Goblin himself, confirmed to appear in Freshman Year, an appearance from Hobgoblin down the road is entirely possible. Also, fan demand for Hobgoblin to appear in the MCU has recently risen, as shown in the rumor that made the rounds on social media. It said Peter Parker's friend, Ned Leeds, was set to become Hobgoblin in the MCU film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which, of course, never happened.

Opening for business in Power Man and Iron Fist #54 by Ed Hannigan and Lee Elias, Heroes For Hire is a government-licensed superhero team based in New York City. Made up of Power Man and Iron Fist, Heroes For Hire have allied with numerous Marvel heroes like Spider-Man, Falcon, and She-Hulk.
