The Marvel Cinematic Universe is home to nearly 100 characters inspired by the comics, but it seems some may never make the jump from page to film. Speaking to CBR, Avengers: Infinity War writers Steven McFeely and Christopher Markus revealed which comic book characters probably won't appear in the MCU anytime soon.
Asked if there were any Marvel Comics characters he'd still like to write, Markus said, "There are characters in the comics… I don’t know how you do them."
"Literally, no one will ever do this — I say this, and then it’ll be announced — I think Machine Man is hilarious," he continued. "I like Moon Knight, but you have to handle Moon Knight in a very careful way, or he just becomes negative image Batman. But there are certain runs in the comics where you go, 'That’s crazy.'"
"I’d love to see Namor," McFeely added. "I don’t think they even have the rights to him. But that’s a guy with a big upside, I think."
For now, Marvel fans will just have to settle for the 76 characters who are set to appear between Infinity War and Avengers 4.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film arrives Friday worldwide.
