While there's a lot of detail thought and put into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Such a complex and costly endeavor is bound to have various inconsistency and, from time to time, make outright mistakes. While this doesn't really diminish the quality of the MCU, some of them are definitely humorous and interesting. In this video, we're going to go through some of the mistakes that the MCU has admitted over the years and, in most cases, fixed through retcons.

We're starting our list off with the Infinity Gauntlet. In 2011, Thor followed the titular God of Thunder dealing with the Shakespearean trials and tribulations of being the heir apparent to Asgard's throne. However, one Easter egg in the film revealed Odin actually had the Infinity Gauntlet in his vault. While this was a good shoutout to the comics, this was retconned when Thanos and his forces began to gather the Infinity Stones so as to wipe out half the life in the universe. Later, in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, Hela revealed that the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's vault was actually fake, explaining away this mistake pretty handily.

The next mistake we're going to look at has to do with the Collector and 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. During the events of Guardians of the Galaxy, Adam Warlock is set up when his cocoon appears among the Collector's collection. However, 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 retconned this potential set-up away when the Sovereign are revealed to instead have Warlock's cocoon.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Some of these aforementioned mistakes might even get fleshed out or explained away more, depending on how Marvel Studios chooses to proceed.
