We’ve seen a couple of Marvel movies over the years and some of its heroes were given the opportunity to steal the spotlight and shine bright in their own movies. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is famous for its Avengers cast where every member of the Original Six has been granted their own film and TV series.

While most characters from the popular universe starred in quite a few films over the years, each with sequels and future plans, some characters just do well in the sideline. They are usually the sidekicks of the protagonists or perhaps a popular, well-loved character. Here is a list of minor characters from MCU that have zero plans for a solo film:

10 Mantis

If you think Mantis had a very small role in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War, just remember how she put Thanos to sleep to buy her friends some time to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from his hand. She has become a fan favorite and gained a following because of her innocent and cute demeanor.

Despite this, she won’t be receiving a solo movie franchise anytime soon. Marvel will be working on another Guardians of the Galaxy movie and we can still swoon over Mantis and Drax’s blossoming relationship.

9 Lady Sif

Jamie Alexander as Lady Sif in the MCU's Thor films

Since the first Thor film, Lady Sif proved that she is a warrior capable of leading a pack and winning wars. She is even sometimes compared with Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel because they all exude the strong and independent woman vibes.

Regardless, she is not scheduled for a solo movie. Unlike Wonder Woman, Lady Sif does not have much story to tell aside from being an Asgard warrior and loyal friend to Thor. Not to discredit her efforts but Lady Sif is no Xena so we cannot expect Marvel would allot a budget for this role.

8 Iron Patriot

The loyal soldier and great friend to Tony Stark, Iron Patriot is one of the first designs that Stark built after his prototype Iron Man suit. Initially named as War Machine, the Iron Patriot is an ally who helped Stark beat his archenemies. He has been on his side until Avengers: Endgame and it is no doubt he’s one of the best sidekicks!

Regardless, we won’t be having an Iron Patriot movie anytime soon because first, he only plays a minor role in the MCU and his story about how he dropped the bomb won’t convince producers like he convinced people at the party.

7 Helmut Zemo

Zemo took villain roles to the next level when he used Bucky Barnes to get Captain America and Iron Man into a catfight. He has got an interesting background and has so much story to tell. With all that Russian spy conspiracies and the creation of the Winter Soldier, Zemo is definitely a villain to watch out for.

Even though he has got a ton of bad stuff to bring out, Marvel will keep him as Bucky’s nemesis and nothing more. We won’t be expecting a solo film about how Zemo got into his business to ruin Bucky’s life forever.

6 Shuri

More than just the smart sister of Wakanda’s king Black Panther, Shuri displayed bravery and ingenuity during the battles of Wakanda and against Thanos. Her unparalleled technology skills contributed to the team’s success. Without her vibranium-crafted weapons, their first line of defense would fall.

As much as fans want to see more of Shuri’s laboratory weapons, she is not scheduled for any solo franchise in the future. She might still appear in future Marvel films with her brother with the rise of the New Avengers so let’s watch out for it!

5 Rocket

The talking raccoon definitely tops the list of Marvel’s most amusing characters. It is no wonder why Guardians of the Galaxy never gets boring—they have the perfect mix of characters with different personalities! Rocket is a weapon-savvy space warrior who has a deep love for his brother, Groot, the talking tree.

There’s no need to say it but we all want to see a Rocket and Groot solo film in the future. We want to witness their epic journey in space and how they beat opponents using only their wit and humor. As of now, we can only wish for a spin-off.

4 Hela

Yes, we know. Thor: Ragnarok is basically Cate Blanchett’s film featuring Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. She took the bar up too high for the Best Villain Award. If Hela was only present in Endgame, we want to see her go toe-to-toe with Thanos. It will surely be one hell of a fight!

Hela is one of the most intriguing characters in Marvel. After Odin banished her, she turned to the evil side. That’s what fans want to know—what exactly happened to her during exile. But, we cannot guarantee Marvel would make a solo film about her.

3 Jane Foster

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster in thor

As the scientist who found the wormhole where she met Thor, Jane Foster makes a fascinating discovery that two worlds can actually coexist. When she collided with Thor, all her scientific researches finally came into the picture and all her space hunches were finally proven.

Her role simply falls under the minor category and as much as we don’t want to sweep her efforts to the sideline, she has always appeared as Thor’s love interest. Although Love and Thunder will feature Jane Foster as Female Thor, we cannot fully assume the movie is about her story.

2 Maria Hill

Colbie Smulders as Maria Hill

One of the most trusted and loyal agents of SHIELD, Maria Hill became Nick Fury’s right hand in all of his covert missions. She was there during the attack in New York, the fight against Ultron, and other battles the Avengers faced.

As one of the ordinary humans whose only weapon is a gun and their courage, Hill displayed steadfast and unwavering soldier’s heart. Even though she appeared in most MCU films, she isn’t slated for her own franchise given the degree of her character’s role. She may appear in future Marvel films, though.

1 Sharon Carter

Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter

Sharon appeared as Peggy Carter’s niece and Captain America’s love interest in Civil War but she is more than that. She is an agent sent to watch over Steve Rogers as news about SHIELD being compromised. She also fought alongside Rogers during the battle at the airport against Team Stark.

After that, we haven’t seen much of her, especially in Endgame. If this is the case, then Marvel may not warrant her a solo film. Her connection to the main characters was also not too relative. They could definitely move on without the character.
