G.I. Joe's neverending war against Cobra has put them in a position of requiring some unique assets. Sometimes that means developing insanely specific vehicles that can really only be used on one type of mission. Other times, it means bringing in specialists that can handle delicate situations.

It's hard to imagine something that Snake Eyes can't handle but it actually does come up. For that reason, various Marvel characters would make great additions to the G.I. Joe team. They bring an impressive array of skills and expertise to the table. Plus, the costumes the G.I. Joes wear are no more outlandish or colorful than the ones the Marvel characters wear.

10 Nick Fury

Before Nick Fury was the world's greatest spy, he was a soldier in World War II. With the Howling Commandos by his side, he fought alongside heroes such as Captain America to take down the worst Hitler and the Red Skull had to offer. Working with the G.I. Joe team might feel like coming home to him, being part of a covert military unit. His experience in the armed forces combined with his vast history in espionage would make him an incredible asset to the Joes. The only problem with having Fury on the team is that the Joes would never know what kind of operation he was running behind the scenes. Nick is a sneaky guy.

9 Captain America

Much like Nick Fury, Captain America's history in the military makes him a natural fit for the team. His strategic acumen combined with his fighting prowess would obviously give him an immediate posting. The only issue might be his costume. G.I. Joe team members don't always wear the most sensible gear out in the field.

Some of their uniforms outright make no sense from a military or combat perspective. A hero clad in the American flag might be a little much even for them. But who knows? They might actually be good with it. They are still the Real American Heroes, after all.

8 Hawkeye

Hawkeye presents an interesting conundrum for the G.I. Joe team. On one hand, he is an incredibly talented archer, a well-trained hand-to-hand combatant and has vast field experience to draw on. For all of those reasons, he seems like an obvious choice for the team. But then there's the larger issue of Clint Barton's attitude problems. He does not respond well to authority figures as a general rule, even when that authority figure is someone he actually likes. G.I. Joe is a military outfit that operates based on the applicable systems and hierarchy. If Hawkeye can get on board with all of that, he could be a game-changer for the Joes.

7 Falcon

Sam Wilson followed a long path to becoming the high-flying hero known as the Falcon. He went from a respected community volunteer in Harlem to being a criminal in Los Angeles to starting out as a hero alongside Captain America. The Star-Spangled Avenger was responsible for his training but Sam has been responsible for everything he's done with it since.

After receiving his first flight harness, Falcon took his fight to the skies. The Joes could use someone with Sam Wilson's level of training as well as his incredible flying gear. He could easily take on any of Cobra's air support and win.

6 Mockingbird

Bobbi Morse has had a pretty rough ride, mostly thanks to the Skrulls kidnapping her and making people think she was dead for many years. But she also chose to marry Clint Barton, a decision she cannot blame on the Skrulls. As Mockingbird, she's worked with both the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., proving herself as one of Marvel's best fighters around. Her combat experience and S.H.I.E.L.D. training make her great G.I. Joe team recruit. Plus, she would be able to get with the military program, unlike her ex-husband. Mockingbird has the potential to be the perfect teammate for the Joes.

5 Black Widow

Black Widow would also be a name high up that recruiting list. Starting off as an Iron Man villain, the Widow found a new path and eventually became one of the most respected Avengers around. Her training in Russia was incredibly comprehensive, giving her skills have only gotten better and more vast as time has gone on.

The Widow is an amazing fighter and a talented spy. She also understands what it means to operate as part of a military unit. Once on the G.I. Joe team, she could easily infiltrate Cobra, conduct a vast amount of reconnaissance and take out any targets that the Joes needed gone.

4 War Machine

This one almost isn't fair for Cobra. James Rhodes is a military veteran sporting a suit of powerful battle armor loaded with the most devastating weapons it can support and still fly. War Machine could take on an entire column of HISS Tanks and Stinger Jeeps on his own. Rhodes is one-man air support who is more than capable of taking out all the Rattlers Cobra throws at him. But keep in mind that Cobra has proven to be more than capable of developing new and devastating technologies, even more so than the Joes. War Machine gives the Real American Heroes one hell of an edge in their war against the terrorist organization.

3 Winter Soldier

Bucky Barnes as Winter Soldier

Bucky Barnes road from being Captain America's sidekick in World War II to being one of the top heroes in Marvel has been long and rocky, to say the least. But the Winter Soldier has a lot going for him that could help the G.I. Joe team. He was trained by both the American and Russian militaries, giving him a huge range of skills and a vast knowledge base to draw on.

Barnes is a talented fighter who is proficient with an impressive array of weapons. But the key thing is Barnes isn't afraid to put all of this to good use in service to his country. Plus, the man has a super cool robot arm. Who wouldn't want that on their team?

2 Punisher

The Joes would be of two minds on Frank Castle. A Vietnam War veteran, Castle knows what it means to serve in the military. He's a superb hand-to-hand combat specialist, making him deadly without a gun in his hand. With a gun, no one survives an assault by the Punisher. But as impressive as he is with firearms, the damage he can do with a zoo full of wild animals is astonishing. But the problem is that the Punisher is an unrelenting killing machine that might not fit G.I. Joe's program. Since Frank still respects the military structure on some level, the Joes might actually have the best shot of reigning him in. Frank is probably just missing some structure in his life.

1 Deadpool

Deadpool joining the G.I. Joes would be worth it just for the sake of comedy of the whole situation. You can't ignore that Wilson has the training, skills, and experience to make him a highly effective member of the Joes. The fact that he can heal himself so quickly and efficiently would blow their minds. But most importantly, the man never shuts up and he would be on a team with a man who can't talk. Watching Snake Eyes and Deadpool deal with each other would be amazing, in part because Snake Eyes would be so annoyed by him, but also because they would be a highly effective duo.
