Magneto is an interesting case when it comes to Marvel characters. While he's ostensibly a villain, his goals are pretty laudable, and he's crossed the line from villain to hero more than once. In recent years, his own discrimitive attitudes have softened, and he's been helping out the X-Men, using his Earth-shattering power on the side of good. He's even been known to save human lives, which is not something he's used to.
As powerful as Magneto can be, though, there are still some characters he's never beat in a fight. He's faced down some of Marvel's most powerful and skilled characters, but some are just too much for him to handle.
10 Iceman Has Always Been A Factor In Defeating Magneto
Iceman is one of the most powerful mutants on the planet. While he doesn't do much solo work, he has battled Magneto many times with the X-Men, and he's come out on top every time. Unlike other members of the team, in his ice form, Iceman is completely ice, meaning Magneto can't even affect his blood because he doesn't have any at that point.
While Magneto has gotten his licks in on Iceman, he's never been able to beat the mutant. Even if they were to clash one-on-one, it's still doubtful he'd be able to do so because Iceman is just too powerful.
9 Jean Grey Has Never Suffered A Loss From Magneto
Jean Grey is one of the most important X-Men, with her vast telepathic and telekinetic skill allowing her to take out the team's most powerful foes. Jean Grey doesn't really get too many solo battles, but she's been battling Magneto with the team since its founding, and she's beat him every time. While his helmet can protect against her telepathy, he's still vulnerable to her telekinesis.
Magneto's come close to beating Jean, but with the help of the rest of the team, she's always managed to triumph. The two mutants are some of the most powerful around, so it's always a great battle when they clash.
8 The Marvel Zombies Were Able To Eat Magneto After Some Stiff Resistance
The Marvel Zombies Earth was a pretty bleak place, as the zombie virus completely ravaged the planet until even the most powerful heroes were in its thrall. Eventually, the only resistance would be from Magneto. He'd fight a long-running battle against them, surviving but never making much headway. However, it all was for naught.
Magneto finally confronted them in a head-on battle that ended in his death. While he made a pretty strong effort, he just couldn't stand up to their undead onslaught, and they finally were able to eat the last thorn in their side.
7 Archangel Has Has Never Lost To Magneto
Archangel, who relied on his ability to fly, was a factor in beating Magneto. One would think that when he became Archangel, it would be easier for Magneto to beat him. However, even with the metal wings, Archangel was never defeated by Magneto. Archangel has always found ways around his shortcomings to surprise his foes, and it's always been most surprising when he beats Magneto.
6 Magneto Has Almost Beat Beast, But His Friends Had His Back
Beast might have a reputation for being pretty shady recently, but there was a time when he was more heroic than he is today. He has been helping to beat Magneto since he was a teenager, battling him alongside his teammates in the X-Men. While Beast's powers weren't exactly crucial in the battle against Magneto, he did still help the X-Men win.
Magneto came close to beating Beast and the X-Men in the Blue Team's inaugural battle against the Master of Magnetism, but the X-Men were able to come back, breaking free of the mind control that Magneto's Acolytes put them under to win the fight.
5 Cassandra Nova Was Responsible For The Destruction Of Magneto's Mutant Nation Of Genosha
After getting the UN to agree to give him the country of Genosha, Magneto established the first mutant country. However, it didn't last long as Cassandra Nova, in one of her worst deeds, sent three Mega-Sentinels against the island and destroyed it, killing everyone there. Sixteen million mutants died, and there was nothing a weakened Magneto was able to do about it.
This would be the closest Magneto has come to fighting Nova, and it was a pretty crippling loss. He went into hiding afterward, only returning to help Charles Xavier find survivors and re-establish something from the ruins of the island.
4 Storm's X-Men Never Lost To Magneto
Storm is one of the X-Men's greatest leaders. She's quite possibly a better leader than Cyclops, but he gets more credit because he's been doing it longer. There's no doubt that she's more powerful than him, and she's also one of the few mutants on Earth who is just as powerful as Magneto. In fact, Storm and Magneto are equally able to end civilization at any time.
Storm has rarely faced Magneto on her own, but he's never beaten her. He respects her immensely, just like anyone who faced her. Her powers allowed her to do great against him, and her strategies always led the X-Men to victory over him.
3 Doctor Doom Is Too Smart To Lose To Magneto
Doctor Doom is one of the most dangerous people on the planet. A big reason for this is that he's an extremely intelligent individual who can figure out a way to beat anyone, including Magneto. Mutant powers can be inhibited, and Doom knows that.
The few times they've faced each other, Doom has always done so with complete confidence because he's long since figured out a way to defeat the mutant. For his part, Magneto knows this as well, and he usually treads pretty lightly around Doom.
2 Cyclops Has Been Responsible For Defeating Magneto More Than Anyone
Cyclops and Magneto have been fighting since Cyclops was a teenager. The two men have built up a lot of enmity over the years but also a lot of respect. Cyclops knows better than to underestimate Magneto and respects his power. Magneto knows that Cyclops is one of the best mutants ever and was even willing to follow his lead when Cyclops became the leader of the mutant race.
Magneto has gotten close to beating Cyclops, but the X-Men's leader is always able to pull out the win. His combination of devastating power and superb tactics have served Cyclops well in his battle against Magneto, always keeping humanity safe from him.
1 Iron Man Came Prepared To Beat Magneto
Magneto rarely fights the Avengers, and when he does, it usually doesn't go too well for them. While he usually lets them get by with a warning, he's rarely actually beaten them. He's only fought Iron Man once by himself, during Avengers Vs X-Men, and Iron Man was able to survive the battle because he was prepared.
Iron Man was able to figure out a way to overcome the mutant's magnetic power, allowing him to not be killed several seconds into the battle and get away from Magneto.
