The recent King In Black storyline has done a great job of once again highlighting the strength of symbiotes in the Marvel universe. Venom is the most famous of these creatures and many fans are looking forward to his second movie that is releasing later this year.

In Norman Osborne's great re-emergence in Amazing Spider-Man #798 (written by Dan Slott) he merged with the incredibly lethal and dangerous Carnage symbiote and became the Red Goblin.

This being was even more sadistic and cruel than the previous Green Goblin, and it even enslaved Norman's long grandchild Normie. He once again found out Spider-man's identity and told him to retire or the people he loved most would suffer greatly. It was a great story arc and a perfect way to re-establish Norman Osborne as the villain he deserves to be.

During Web of Venom: Ve'Nam (written by Donny Cates), Wolverine was added to the long history of people who have been affected by the symbiote suits. In the '60s Nick Fury enlisted Wolverine's help in stopping some soldiers who had been consumed by the hive mind of the symbiotes.

When they attacked these soldiers one of the symbiotes attached itself to Wolverine. It adopted his signature hairstyle and its personality changed, feeling more rage and regret.

The more time he spent with the symbiote the more erratic he grew, to the point where he even was eating people. Gargan lost his suit when he was exposed to the Anti-Venom toxin.

Lee Price encountered the symbiote at a strange time in its life. It had just returned from space and wanted to be kinder, help more people, be a pacifist almost. Lee was not on the same page.

When the symbiote saved his life he immediately overpowered it, making it submit to his will, and used it to slaughter people around him. Lee was angry and violent due to childhood trauma and the symbiote was the perfect vessel for him and his rage.

6 The Guardians Of The Galaxy Were Too Unstable To Stay Safe

Drax, Groot, and Rocket have all been affected by the symbiotes, each one of them donning them at one time or another. This makes sense considering that Agent Venom traveled with the Guardians of the Galaxy for a while, and it was the Guardians that discovered the home planet of the symbiotes.

Trevor Cole was one of the people chosen to wear the Life Foundation symbiotes from the hit series Venom: Lethal Protector. Cole was a mercenary who was bonded to the symbiote Riot, an offspring of Venom.

The key difference is that Cole and Riot were far more violent and unforgiving than the other Life Foundation symbiotes and host, making them the most dangerous of the group. They were later defeated by Venom and Spider-Man.

He was able to create bladed weapons and the symbiote even gave him a new pair of legs after losing his while in the US military. After his time with Venom was done, he went on to wear the Anti-Venom suit, a white suit that was toxic to symbiotes.

While Doc Ock was living in Peter Parker's body he also gained the power of the Venom symbiote. He stole the symbiote from Flash Thompson and made himself into the Superior Venom. With Doc Ock at the helm, the Superior Venom was more aggressive and irrational than before.

The symbiote realizes that John is not a good host and abandons him in order to attach to a better host, which happened to be Spider-man.
