Disney+ provides an exciting opportunity to explore many more Marvel comics characters that have been brought to the big screen. While there are many Marvel movies, there are still only so many big blockbuster movies that can be made each year.

Having a platform for television series allows for a different kind of storytelling and for including more and new characters. While there are already many Disney Marvel shows that have been announced, there will likely still be more in the future, too. Here are five Marvel characters who deserve their own Disney+ show and five that don’t.

10 10. DON’T: HAWKEYE

While Hawkeye might already have his own series for Disney+, he’s the character that probably deserves it the least of all that is already confirmed. Luckily, much of this series is supposed to be about the Kate Bishop. This will be refreshing because Hawkeye in the MCU has been less compelling this far.

So, hopefully adding a new main character to this series will give it the charisma that it needs. Hawkeye’s arc in Avengers: Endgame was less than engaging, and many feel the character from the comics wasn’t done justice in the movies.

9 9. DO: HULK

While there is already a She-Hulk series coming to Disney+, there is still room for a Hulk series, too. The MCU has only had one solo movie, which starred Edward Norton instead of Mark Ruffalo. While there likely won’t ever be another Hulk solo movie or at least anytime soon, a television show is a good opportunity.

It would allow Burce Banner and Hulk’s story to be told more in-depth, and we could get more explanation to the fact that these two identities seem to have merged.

8 8. DON’T: ROCKET RACOON

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Groot Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Raccoon is a character that many fans have loved because of how funny he is. While many people love him, it wouldn’t really make sense to have a series that focuses on just one of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

While he might be funny, it seems like he wouldn’t be able to carry his own show. Plus, there is already going to be at least one more Guardians movie, so making a television series at this point would just feel unnecessary.

7 7. DO: SHURI

Letitia Wright as Shuri in Black Panther movie

Shuri was definitely a breakout character in the MCU. When she was introduced in Black Panther, many fans loved her, and they were disappointed that she was barely in Infinity War or Endgame at all. While she’s likely going to appear in Black Panther 2 and beyond, it would be great to see even more from her.

She could definitely have a show that focuses more on the younger generation of heroes, and this would be refreshing to see.

6 6. DON’T: NICK FURY

Samuel L. Jackson as he appears as Nick Fury in the MCU.

Now, Nick Fury is a great character in the MCU, and his inclusion in many Marvel films has been essential. While he’s been played wonderfully by Samuel L. Jackson, it seems like the character’s utility in the series isn’t as important anymore.

The main reason to not have him be the star of a Disney+ show is that it would likely end up being about the Skrull that’s taken on his likeness and not about Nick himself. There is definitely no reason for this, and it seems that his main function as a character is best when more as a mentor.

5 5. DO: IRONHEART

While Ironheart isn’t likely to get her own movie, she would make a great protagonist for a television series. She is an extremely intelligent and dynamic character who would be great to inspire a teenage audience. Plus, now that Tony Stark is dead, it’s clear that the MCU is still looking for ways to add him in and keep his legacy going.

Riri is another character who has ties to Tony Stark, and this would be a great way to pass on some of the great things about Tony while not letting him dominate all of the future storytelling.

4 4. DON’T: WASP

Wasp Evangeline Lilly

Wasp is a character in the MCU who has already had a major role. She appeared as the co-titled character in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and this is a great thing. While she’s an interesting character, it doesn’t seem right to give her a television series.

Instead, it would make more sense if she is integrated more into ensemble MCU films or if she even gets her own movie. Wasp has a history of being one of the Avengers in the comics, and it would be great to see this happen in the movies.

3 3. DO: WAR MACHINE

War Machine flying

War Machine, also known as James “Rhodey” Rodes, is a character that actually got his own solo film. While this sadly didn’t happen, he definitely deserves more time to shine than he’s been given.

While he’s only been a supporting character in the MCU, the acting talents of Don Cheadle combined with the chemistry between him and Iron Man made War Machine essential in the Iron Man films. It would be great if there was a chance to tell more of his individual story and dive deeper into the character's life.

2 2. DON’T: ANY X-MEN

Now that Disney has acquired the rights to the X-Men, there are a lot of questions about how they are going to use these rights going forward. There have already been a lot of recent movies focusing on these characters, and it doesn't seem like a good time for Disney to do more.

This isn’t to say they should never do anything with these characters, but it would be unfortunate if they just incorporate them all into the MCU. Their X-Men franchise should definitely have its own look and feel.

1 1. DO: OKOYE AND THE DORA MILAJE

Many of the characters from Black Panther were extremely dynamic and engaging. Even though they haven’t really been in the MCU for very long, they’ve definitely made an impact.

While we hope that characters like Okoye will appear in future films, and likely will, a television series would be fascinating. This would allow for more exploration into life, society, and technology in Wakanda.
