Love it or hate it, but WandaVision changed the game when it came to telling Marvel superhero stories. Following Wanda's journey through her own grief as it guided her to her destiny as the Scarlet Witch will be regarded as a seminal work in the future. But it does beg the question of other characters who could embark on their own journey of introspection and growth.

While there are several who could make their own version of that type of story work, others just aren't right for it. And the MCU will have to pick and choose carefully when it comes to deciding who they use.

10 STAY IN THE COMICS: Elektra

Elektra and Wolverine ready to fight

It should go without saying that Elektra is one of the coolest characters in Marvel Comics. She's a highly trained assassin and ninja who is as capable a hand-to-hand combatant as anyone else out there.

That being said, she's a cool secondary character. It would be hard to base an entire Disney+ series around her and make it as interesting and engaging as what fans got from the Scarlet Witch on WandaVision.

9 GET THE WANDAVISION TREATMENT: Namor

Namor The Submariner

Some people don't know this but Namor has been around for as long as Batman and Superman. He debuted in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939 and has played a huge role in many stories over the years. He would also be a superb candidate for a deep, introspective story.

As a son of Atlantis and the surface, Namor's loyalties have long been torn between the two worlds. There is a lot of story to mine in that narrative while introducing Atlantis and Namor into the overall MCU world.

8 STAY IN THE COMICS: Professor X

Professor X sits in his X-Mansion

At some point, the X-Men will make their MCU debut, and Professor X will inevitably be part of it all. That being said, no one needs to sit through a Disney+ series about the guy. Frankly, he's just not that interesting.

Yes, Professor X is a disturbingly powerful Mutant who has made a long series of choices that no one should have to make. He has to be part of the MCU. At the same time, his story will be told as part of everything involving the X-Men. And there are much better Mutants to focus on.

7 GET THE WANDAVISION TREATMENT: Storm

Storm shows her power

On the other hand, Storm is a Mutant whose history would make for an excellent Disney+, WandaVision-esque series. She's powerful, interesting, and engaging, not to mention rooted in a variety of Marvel stories beyond the X-Men world.

Storm started out as a pickpocket who was eventually revered as a goddess when her powers appeared. She went on to become a core member of the X-Men as well as the wife of T'Challa and the Queen of Wakanda. There is a lot to unpack here in a potential TV show.

6 STAY IN THE COMICS: Gambit

Remy LeBeau in front of a pink background

Without question, Gambit is one of the most popular Mutants in Marvel Comics. The suave, charming Cajun is a superb hand-to-hand fighter and has the ability to charge objects with explosive energy.

An attempt to make a solo film with the character kept stalling out at Fox and was completely canceled when Disney took over the franchise. Given the hard feelings related to the character on the big screen, it might be best to let Gambit be for a while before jumping into anything.

5 GET THE WANDAVISION TREATMENT: Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom feature 2

He has a suit of armor that rivals Iron Man, he's as brilliant as Mister Fantastic, and he's a dark sorcerer on par with Doctor Strange. And on top of all of that, Doctor Doom has his own country and an army of robots at his disposal.

Doom's past is filled with hardship, heartache, and conflict—more than could be fully investigated in a film. The depth of his character and backstory would allow for a series similar to WandaVision to play out.

4 STAY IN THE COMICS: Cyclops

Cyclops

If Disney+ is looking to put out a series about the most boring person in all of comic books, then Cyclops would certainly be the right choice for them. Yes, he has super cool eye blasts and is the field leader of the X-Men, but that's about it.

Much like Professor X, Cyclops will inevitably be part of however the X-Men arrive in the MCU. It would be hard to leave him out. That being said, that doesn't mean the guy needs a whole series focused on him. Virtually no one wants that.

3 GET THE WANDAVISION TREATMENT: The Punisher

Punisher on the job

The era of Marvel series on Netflix might be in the past, but that doesn't mean the characters don't have a future. While their respective shows are no longer in continuity, several of the characters and actors are rumored to be making the jump to the MCU.

A big one is Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Both seasons of the Netflix series were incredible, and there is more story to tell. Once other heroes from the MCU are in the mix, Punisher will become even more compelling as a character.

2 STAY IN THE COMICS: Apocalypse

Apocalypse is a super-powerful mutant with a centuries-long kill count

Making a good superhero story requires a great villain. Thanos was key to the first MCU arc that played out from Iron Man through to Avengers: Endgame. Fans are already looking for who will be the big bad in the next arc, though a lot of people are speculating it will be Doctor Doom or Kang the Conqueror.

Apocalypse, on the other hand, is a lot less likely. His disastrous appearance in the X-Men franchise utterly ruined the character, meaning that Disney+ would be wise to leave him on the shelf until the X-Men are well established in the MCU.

1 GET THE WANDAVISION TREATMENT: Spider-Man

Non-Stop Spider-Man feature

At this point, Tom Holland's Spider-Man is an extremely important aspect of the MCU. He's become a key part of the larger story and has two great solo films under his belt. But even with another movie on the way, there's a lot more story to work through.

Being Spider-Man comes with a lot of internal conflict and familial concerns. An introspective, WandaVision-styled series would allow time to explore this Peter Parker's personal life on a deeper level, and how it connects to his career as Spider-Man.
