Upon its initial release, Arkham Asylum instantly built a reputation as the best superhero video game ever made. It proceeded to spawn two sequels and an additional prequel made right before a climactic final entry. Although the Batman in-game universe is moving on into new territory with something totally new for Gotham Knights, the Arkham franchise is still held in high regard. It's a big win for the DC Universe and leaves some pondering on what if Marvel ventured into similar gaming territory.

The closest that fans ever got to see their own Marvel version of Arkham Asylum is Marvel's Spider-Man, along with its preceding sequel Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Both games received reviews coining how the gameplay makes the player "feel" like Spider-Man, similar to the now-infamous meme about the Arkham series making players "feel" like Batman. But which Marvel characters would the fans like to "feel" like next?

10 Gambit: The Solo Movie That Never Was

Gambit X-Men Apocalypse

Gambit fans may recall by now that recent ambitions to bring the character to the big screen for a solo movie - which began way back when Taylor Kitsch first played the character for X-Men Origins: Wolverine - did not turn out as successfully as fans nor movie producers would have hoped.

However, if all hope is truly lost for a Gambit solo movie, it wouldn't hurt to move those solo movie plans into a solo video game. Most importantly, centering the character in a great video game may ignite interests in fans wanting to see him get his own movie (i.e. what Miles Morales' new game did for that character).

9 Ghost Rider The Solo Movie That Never Worked

Ghost Rider and Mephisto powerful demons

Ghost Rider's big-screen troubles are in a similar situation as Gambit, except rather than this character struggling to make it to the big screen, the Ghost Rider made it there - twice - but those endeavors kind of bomb. Ghost Rider's sequel underperformed at the box office compared to its predecessor, while both received lukewarm reviews from critics.

Even with the character being re-introduced to the MCU via Agents of SHIELD, it seems unlikely that Marvel will pursue a third entry into the character's cinematic franchise anytime soon. However, that doesn't mean that they shouldn't rebrand with a tonally balls-to-the-wall, fun video game.

8 Daredevil As An Arkham City Clone

Daredevil

With Daredevil and Batman being similar characters, a video game on the Man Without Fear could play similarly to Arkham Asylum or, in a more open-world environment, Arkham City. Such a game could still have ideas like stealth, stealth takedown, and even Detective Mode rebranded in a way that suits Daredevil's heightened radar sense.

Add that alongside a solid combat system (preferably one that includes Daredevil's signature nunchucks) and fans around the world would have their next Game of the Year caliber game in the superhero genre.

7 Black Panther As A Chadwick Boseman Tribute

Like the previously mentioned Batman and Daredevil, Black Panther is another character who is knowing for his hand-to-hand combat and stealthy nature, so it should not be too hard to imagine what a video game surrounding the character would look like.

However, rather than just serve as a carbon copy of the Arkham games, this game could go a step further in serving as a tribute to the late, Golden Globe-winning Chadwick Boseman. With Marvel deciding - rightfully - to not recast the role of T'Challa for the MCU, fans may not see the character on the big screen again, but by retelling the character's story in game form, it could be a humble tribute game that respects the groundwork Boseman laid out beforehand.

6 Iron Man As The Most Fun Avenger To Play

Fans actually played a video game version of Iron Man fairly recently thanks to the release of Marvel's Avengers. While the reviews and word of mouth from fans and critics have not been kind to the game, most players may agree that Iron Man ranks among the most fun playable characters during its story mode. Some may argue that Iron Man is the most fun character to play in the whole game.

If that last part truly is the case, then fans wouldn't mind a spinoff game of sorts for the character. Allow plays to truly "feel" like Iron Man soaring through the sky.

5 Thor Game To Show Off Asgard

Thor Asgard feature

While most of these entries focus specifically on the character themselves when arguing for them to get their own video game, this one is going to be a little different. Yes, it would be loads of fun to whack enemies upside their heads with the force of Mjolnir, but that is not the primary reason why a Thor video game should exist.

A Thor game should exist to put a spotlight on the gorgeous landscapes of environments in Thor's world, specifically Asgard. Just imagine exploring a bright, vibrant place like Asgard in unpurified HD on a, say, Playstation 5 format. It could be one of the most beautiful games to never exist (yet).

4 She-Hulk Because A Hulk Game Has Worked Multiple Times

She-Hulk

She-Hulk is currently ramping up for a Disney+ exclusive series starring Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany in the title role and even Mark Ruffalo reprising his role of the Hulk/Bruce Banner. Giving all of that excitement surrounding the MCU tie-in thus far, it would make sense to capitalize on that hype by giving She-Hulk her own video games.

The few times that the Hulk has been brought major gaming consoles, it's been received well by critics and casual fans who thought games like Ultimate Destruction captured the essence of Hulk's usual rampage. It shouldn't be too hard to craft a video game for She-Hulk in the same vein.

3 Ant-Man Offers A Creative Realm

An Ant-Man video game would work for the same reason why both Ant-Man movies work so well and turned out to be so fun: creativity. Recall scenes like Yellowjacket and Ant-Man fighting in the middle of a children's toy train set from the first movie or the car chase from the sequel that saw a giant Pez Dispenser flying through the air.

On paper, those clips sound bananas but were fun to watch in their wackiness. Now imagine actually experiencing such scenes in a video game. Playing into the creativity and Ant-Man's ability to grow giant and go small, it's hard to deny such a thing wouldn't be a blast.

2 Wanda Maximoff Will Capitalize On WandaVision

wanda wandavision

The character of Wanda Maximoff as she was crafted by the Marvel Cinematic Universe has garnered a cult following among casual, non-comic fans ever since she debuted in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now, she's developed a global phenomenon of a fanbase thanks to the success of WandaVision.

At a point now where everyone loves Wanda, now would be as good a time as any for Marvel to continue to capitalize on that success by producing a video game that's perhaps in the same vein as WandaVision. Rather than Wanda hopping through different sitcoms, a game would place her in different levels based on different video game concepts and genres.

1 Spider-Gwen Opens The Door To A Spider-Verse Game Franchise

GWEN STACY APPEARANCES - Ultimate Spider-Man

Yes, Marvel has already given fans two great Spider-Man games centered around two great Spider-Men. But why not a third? In fact, with as many different Spider-Man and Women who exist in the multiverse that was established in storylines like Into the Spiderverse, creating a different Spider-Man game centered around all of them would not be the worst idea in the world.

Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles Morales prove that Marvel can make two lovely Spider-Man games that feel unique in their own ways. Playing Peter Parker feels completely different from playing Miles Morales and their storylines set completely different tones. Marvel can do it again with a beloved comic character like Spider-Gwen.
