WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Champions #1 by Jim Zub, Steve Cummings, Marcio Menyz, Erick Arciniega and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

It's a whole new era for Marvel's preeminent team of teenage superheroes, the Champions. What started with Ms. Marvel, Nova and Spider-Man (Miles Morales) defecting from the Avengers to make the world a better place for the forgotten, everyday man-and-woman in the Marvel Universe has blossomed into a unit that could potentially rival Earth's Mightiest Heroes in terms of members and power levels.

After their adventure in Weirdworld, the Champions team of Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Sam Alexander (no longer Nova), Brawn, Viv Vision, Wasp (Nadia Van Dyne), Ironheart and Snowguard have opened their doors to the next generation of Marvel superheroes. Former allies Patriot, Red Locust and Falcon (Joaquin Torres) have been joined by Power Man and brand-new character Pinpoint in a relaunch of Champions, bringing the total roster to 13.

That's certainly a lot of superheroes, but as we know, the Marvel Universe is overflowing with teenage heroes who deserve the chance to star in an ongoing comic. Ms. Marvel, the leader of the Champions, already recognizes that there is strength in numbers, which is why she has a pool of characters at the ready as reinforcements.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Champions #1 opens with the new team split up into three smaller strike teams spread across the globe. Snowguard, Falcon, Bombshell, Red Locust and Pinpoint are in Mexico taking out a child smuggling ring; Ironheart, Power Man, Patriot and Wasp aide an evacuation effort in Japan; leaving the original Champions inside the team's mobile command center.

As Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Brawn and Viv prepare to jump into the fray, Ms. Marvel tells Sam to let her know in case Pinpoint needs to grab reinforcements from their backup pool. This is where we learn the members of the Champions' reinforcements include Cloud 9, Honey Badger, Moon Girl, Prodigy and Silk, among other unnamed heroes.

If 13 members of the Champions wasn't enough to whet your appetite, there are at least six more ready to get a call up to the junior big leagues. It's also worth noting these reinforcements follow the Champions' lead of coming from all corners of the larger Marvel Universe.

Cloud 9 was a member of the Avengers Initiative program following Civil War, and has the ability to create a cloud-like substance allowing her and others flight capabilities; Honey Badger and Prodigy are mutants and members of the X-Men; Moon Girl (with her Devil Dinosaur) is an Inhuman and was on the most recent iteration of the Secret Warriors; Red Dagger is a Pakistani vigilante who debuted in Ms. Marvel #12; and Silk recently appeared in the Spider-Man event Spider-Geddon.

There are obviously other heroes Viv planned on announcing because she gets the first letter "S" out of her mouth before being cut off by Miles. Feel free to have fun taking guesses at who this particular character could be, but one thing is clear -- the Champions will never be lacking in the numbers department. At least until whatever dark future that was foreshadowed in Champions #1 actually happens.
