As far as Marvel superheroes are concerned, Captain America is one of the most famous and respected ones. He first appeared in the comics in March 1941 which makes him one of the oldest superheroes. Captain America has been through multiple adventures and fought countless enemies. The name was also held by more than one person but the most iconic Cap is still Steve Rogers.

Since Captain America is so well-known and the MCU popularized him, even more, thanks to Chris Evans, fans might think that they already know everything about the star-spangled, shield-throwing hero. But there's more to Captain America than meets the eye, such as the 10 following powers.

10 Durability

When Steve Rogers took the serum that turned him into a super-soldier, he became an example of peak human physiology. In other words, he's not superhuman, but when it comes to humans, he's the best of the best.

That includes not only increased strength and speed but also the durability that many other heroes could be envious of. Captain America's bones and muscles are denser and harder than usual so, for example, if someone tried to beat him with a wooden stick, the stick is bound to break sooner than Captain America does.

9 Healing

Even when he takes a beating, Captain America usually climbs to his feet and keeps on fighting, no matter what it takes. That's not only because he's stubborn (although he is... a lot) but also because his body heals faster than the body of an average human.

Yes, Captain America is no Deadpool when it comes to regenerating himself but his body is not only capable to fight off microbes and illnesses, it also helps him to heal faster when injured.

8 Intelligence

Captain America isn't a scientific genius in the likes of Tony Stark or Hank Pym, but that doesn't mean he's stupid. Many villains and sometimes even his friend underestimate him and they don't realize that Captain America is actually a brilliant strategist and a team-leader.

His mental abilities have also been enhanced which means that Captain America can think rapidly, process multiple sources of information at the same time, and he also has an almost eidetic memory, so he remembers pretty much everything he ever saw or read and can recall it anytime he wants.

7 Senses

Captain America doesn't need spidey-sense to have enhanced senses. All of his senses, hearing, vision, touch, smell, and taste are once again the peak of human potential.

In practice, it means he'd probably be able to smell if someone was trying to give him poisoned food, for example. And he also has such a great vision that he can dodge bullets because he sees faster than they fly.

6 Aging

Old Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame

All the fans that saw Avengers: Endgame (2019), more specifically its ending, must have realized that Steve Rogers looked pretty active for a guy in his - wait, how old was he? Well over 100 years old.

That's because Captain America ages at a slower pace than other people, courtesy of his abnormally healthy cells. In the comics, it's even been said that he could theoretically maintain his youth indefinitely.

5 Languages

captain america language

Captain America reminded everyone to use proper language in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and when it comes to language, he knows what he's talking about. It's not a power that might seem particularly useful, at least at first, but Captain America's ability to speak multiple languages comes in handy during covert missions when he has to infiltrate foreign territories.

And what languages does he know? Steve Rogers is fluent in English, German, Russian, Japanese, and he also knows a little Italian, maybe even more languages. The good news is that this is the one power every Captain America's fan can also learn.

4 Driving

Captain America can not only throw cars he can also drive them. Again, this power might not seem like anything special, but considering how many superheroes can't drive, either because they're afraid of it or too young to have a driving license in the first place, it still comes in handy.

Yes, Captain America can easily chase his enemies on foot, considering how fast he is but even his feet sometimes aren't enough and that's when vehicles come in. Captain America is proficient in driving cars, motorbikes, jets, helicopters, motorboats, submarines, and more.

3 Inability To Get Drunk

When his friends invite Steve Rogers to a party, they have to be prepared to give him something stronger than human alcohol if they want him to get drunk. The inability to get drunk might not seem like a big deal, but in other contexts, it can come in handy.

For example, if someone spiked Captain America's drink, neither the alcohol or the drug would most likely have any effect on him and it would protect him from danger.

2 Resistance To Hypnosis

Remember the mind voodoo Loki used on Hawkeye to turn him into an obedient servant in the first Avengers in 2012? Well, just like he can't be tricked by getting drunk, Captain America is resistant to hypnosis.

It's easy to forget this particular power of his since it hasn't been used in the films and doesn't even appear in the comics too often.

1 Artistic Skills

This power might be the most bizarre one on this list but it still deserves a mention since it forms such a significant part of who Captain America is... or, more likely, Steve Rogers. Rogers is a talented artist who likes to draw and is good at it.

The MCU films hadn't really shown this talent of his too much, for example, there was a scene in which Steve is drawing the Stark Tower but it ended up deleted from the film.
