The mutant known as Cable is one of the toughest mutants around. The son of Cyclops and Jean Grey clone Madelyne Pryor, he was infected with a techno-organic virus at an early age. Sent to the future so he could be saved from the virus, he grew up fighting against Apocalypse and his forces in a time where the ancient mutant had taken over the world.

Traveling back to the past to stop Apocalypse before his ascendancy, Cable founded X-Force to train young mutants to be soldiers. A formidable combatant, Cable has to use most of his psionic might to hold back the virus ravaging his system, but that doesn't mean he's powerless. In a battle against the villains of the DC Universe, which villains would Cable beat? Which ones would beat him?

10 Would Lose To: Mongul

Mongul is an intergalactic tyrant. The commander of Warworld, Mongul travels the cosmos sowing chaos and destruction where ever he goes. Strong enough to go toe to toe with Superman, Mongul is feared throughout the universe. He even was able to take over the Sinestro Corps, backing down some of the most fearsome aliens around.

Mongul is just strong for Cable. Cable would try to take him, but he just couldn't hurt the alien titan. None of his guns would have an effect on Mongul and while he could mess with Mongul's mind, it just wouldn't be enough. All it would take is one punch from Mongul and the fight is over.

9 Would Defeat: Captain Cold

The Master of Absolute Zero, Len Snart built his cold gun and decided the best use for a weapon that could freeze things to absolute zero would be to become a criminal. Clashing with the Flash, he became the spiritual leader of the Rogues, the informal team of Flash's foes.

Beyond his cold gun, there's really not much else Captain Cold can do. He's just a regular human with no actual powers. Cable is used to people with guns- before founding X-Force, he was a soldier, after all. It's doubtful this fight would even get to a point where Cable physically engaged Cold. They would fire at each other and Cable would just gun down the Rogue.

8 Would Lose To: Solomon Grundy

Solomon Grundy is undead and superstrong. A frequent foe of many of the DC Universe's greatest heroes, Grundy is as dangerous as they come. While Cable is no stranger to fighting foes that are stronger than him, his problem would be finding a way to hurt Grundy.

Grundy can take shots from heroes like Superman, Wonder, and Shazam. Cable just can't muster that kind of power and his telepathic abilities wouldn't work against Grundy. Grundy, though, would definitely be able to hurt Cable. Badly.

7 Would Defeat: Bane

One of Batman's most dangerous villains, Bane is as cunning as he is strong. Growing up in one of the most brutal prisons in his home country of Santa Prisca, Bane is physically and mentally tough. Combine that with the strength-enhancing drug Venom and Bane is a very dangerous opponent.

Bane is tough, but Cable has faced off against much worse than him. Bane excels at making elaborate plans that split his foe's attention and then going in for the kill. Bane wouldn't have enough knowledge of Cable or time to set up one of his plans, so their battle would be purely physical. Bane is tough but Cable is tougher and also wouldn't have a problem shooting Bane in the head. Cable wins.

6 Would Lose To: Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd is a super-strong, telepathic, intelligent gorilla. A savage combatant, he battles the Flash on a regular basis in his mission to take over Gorilla City and destroy humanity. Cable's telepathy would allow him to defend himself against Grodd's telepathic attacks... for a while at least.

Cable's mental powers aren't as strong as they should because of the techno-organic virus, so the amount of time he'd be able to protect himself against Grodd's mental onslaught is much lower than it should be. Add to that the fact that Grodd would be coming at him physically and Grodd would overwhelm Cable. All the guns in the world wouldn't save him from the ferocious gorilla.

5 Would Defeat: Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy believes that humans are a terrible plague on the world and that they should be eliminated so plants can take over the planet again. Connected to the Green, Ivy has control over plant life. This makes her a rather formidable foe. However, Cable has what it takes to beat her.

Ivy would come out strong, using plant life to grab and hold Cable. Cable would be able to hold it off for time using his guns and telekinesis, but eventually, she'd grab and start squeezing. However, Ivy doesn't have any psychic defenses to speak of, leaving her vulnerable to Cable's telepathy. He'd be able to knock her out with a telepathic blast, ending the fight.

4 Would Lose To: Sinestro

Master of both the yellow light of fear and the Ultraviolet spectrum, Sinestro was once one of the greatest Green Lanterns in the universe before it was discovered he ran his sector like a fascist dictatorship. Clashing with Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern Corps, and the Justice League, Sinestro is a powerful foe.

Cable just couldn't hurt Sinestro enough before Sinestro hurt him. Sinestro could use his ring to defend himself from Cable's arsenal while using ring based attacks to flay Cable alive. Over the years, Sinestro has definitely vied with telepathic foes and would be able to protect himself from Cable's diminished telepathy long enough to take the mutant down.

3 Would Defeat: Deadshot

Floyd Lawson is one of the greatest marksmen on the planet. While he does good as a member of the Suicide Squad, whenever he's not in prison, Deadshot is an assassin for hire, killing for anyone who has the money to pay him.

RELATED: The All-Time Greatest "Suicide Squad" Stories, Ranked

Deadshot is a skilled opponent, but he has nothing that Cable hasn't faced before. This fight would be more of a gun battle than anything else, with both men scrambling from cover to cover, letting off shots at the other. Unfortunately for Deadshot, Cable would be able to use his telepathy against him and that gives Cable an insurmountable advantage in this fight.

2 Would Lose To: Reverse Flash

Reverse Flash is Flash's worst enemy. Able to match the speed of the Scarlet Speedster, Reverse-Flash can also do things that the Flash can't, like travel through time unaided. Because of this, he's virtually unkillable- there's always another version of him in the timestream looking to rear his ugly head.

Cable would probably be able to use his telepathy against Reverse Flash... if he got the chance to. Reverse Flash is just too fast for Cable. Cable's telekinesis is too weak to put up shields that would be strong enough to make a difference against Reverse Flash's onslaught even if he could get them up in time. Cable just couldn't stand up to Reverse Flash's blitzkrieg.

1 Would Defeat: Deathstroke

Deathstroke is easily one of the greatest assassins on the planet. A former Army Ranger, he went through an experiment that gave him super strength and agility and allowed him to use 90% percent of brain capacity. This is his greatest advantage in combat, as it allows him to plan many steps ahead of his foes.

Against a telepath, though, this wouldn't help much. Cable may not be able to do much to Deathstroke mentally – after all, Deathstroke was able to stop Kyle Raynor from using his Green Lantern ring by touching it- but he'd be able to read his mind and see his strategies. This would allow him to cut Deathstroke off. The fight wouldn't be easy, but Cable would be able to take Deathstroke down.
