World-Renowned New York Restaurant Kicks Off Its 80th Anniversary Celebration with "Spider-Man & Friends" Mural, Hand-painted On Its Famous Caricature-Adorned Walls by Marvel Comics Editor-In-Chief and Superstar artist Joe Quesada
WHAT: Eighty years ago a pair of Italian immigrants from Parma, Italy, opened up a small Italian restaurant named The Palm, which would soon become world-famous for its giant-size steak and lobster dishes, "A-List" clientele and caricature-adorned walls.
On November 1st, in celebration of The Palm's 80th Anniversary, Comic industry legend and current Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada will unveil a hand-painted "Marvel Super Heroes" mural featuring a variety of renowned Marvel characters (Spider-Man, Wolverine, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Fantastic Four, etc). The mural will take its place on The Palm's walls, which have been graced by original work from such icons as LeRoy Neiman, Matt Groening and Dr. Seuss, and four generations of celebrity caricatures.
Also featured at the unveiling will be an advance look at Ultimate Spider-Man #85, which will feature a battle in front of The Palm. Finally, Palm head chef Joe Raiola will introduce a Spider-Man-inspired dessert, which will be available for a limited time on The Palm's menu.
WHO: Marvel Editor-in-Chief and Chief Creative Officer of Publishing Joe Quesada will be on-hand to unveil the mural and conduct media interviews. One of the biggest names in comics, Quesada has personally illustrated such characters as Spider-Man, Batman, Daredevil, The Punisher, Iron Man and X-Men. Also on-site will be Bruce Bozzi Jr., the fourth generation descendent of The Palm's original co-owner and longtime Palm manager Albino Serpagli.
