Last year, Brielle Brooks appeared briefly in 2022 Free Comic Book Day: Avengers/X-Men #1, by writer Danny Lore and artist Karen S. Darboe, in a photo of Blade with a woman, Safron Caulder. Brielle also appeared in Marvel's Crypt of Shadows #1, in a story titled "Neither Big Nor Bad" by Lore and Darboe. The short story compares Brielle to her infamous vampire-hunting father as the young girl begins to discover her supernatural powers. Now Brielle starts a new journey in Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #1 -- by Danny Lore, artist Karen S. Darboe, colorist Cris Peter, and letterer Joe Sabino -- as she struggles to deal with life as a teenager while trying to make sense of her newfound superpowers.

Growing up is never easy, especially for teenagers, and Brielle goes through a lot of changes in Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #1. She doesn't know that her father is Marvel's iconic vampire hunter, but Brielle starts to notice her burgeoning powers. Throughout Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #1, fans see a teenager going through tough times at school with teachers during the day and then experimenting with her newfound powers at night, following in her father's footsteps.

Marvel is full of great characters who work in the shadows and inhabit the supernatural realm, and Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #1 adds another hero to that list. Lore brings tons of spunk, humor, and personality to Brielle to make her likable from the first page of this issue. They create a unique relationship between Brielle and her mother, Safron Caulder. Their connection excels when Brielle is accused of doing poorly in school by her teachers, and Safron steps in to stick up for her daughter. Outside their connection, Lore establishes Brielle as a force to be reckoned with once she discovers she has superpowers, and she tests those powers in dangerous ways.

Darboe and Peter create shadows where foes linger and make Brielle eye-catching with bright pink hair so that readers know where she is at all times. When Brielle uses her powers, Darboe underscores her incredible speed with blurred, dynamic motion lines. Darboe and Peter give Brielle an edgy look reminiscent of her father's that feels contemporary and iconic. Her dyed hair and piercings give her an edgy look that helps reinforce her personality. Sabino's lettering makes the issue easy to read. Even when the action gets chaotic, it's easy to keep track of the text.
