Stephen Dorff, known for playing Deacon Frost in Blade, recanted his negative comments about Black Widow and Scarlett Johansson, saying that he "feels bad" about what he said.

Dorff previously made headlines after he said that Black Widow looked like "garbage" to him, that he felt embarrassed for Johansson for her participation in the film and that he didn't want to be in any of "those movies." In a follow-up, Dorff was asked about his comments by TMZ, and he clarified that he meant no harm to Johansson. "I love Scarlett, I think that was taken a little bit out of context, but she's a great actress," Dorff said.

"I love Scarlett though, I heard she's gonna be a mom so I wish her the best," Dorff continued. "She's an old friend of mine. I felt bad about that comment." When asked whether the actor had heard from Johansson following his comments, he replied that he had, adding that he had "sent her a little note" in response. "I'm sure she's been in a situation similar," he said.

Dorff also mentioned that he had not seen Black Widow himself. "I haven't [seen it]," he said. "I don't really go to those movies. I liked Iron Man, I like, kind of, when they go a little darker. I loved Joker, I'm looking forward to the new Batman. I think, you know, [Independent] got me at a moment where I was just shit-talking a little bit and I felt bad about it. It happens sometimes."

The first Marvel Studios film to be released during the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Widow was a critical success with record sales for 2021. It made $13.2 million from Thursday preview showings alone and $39.5 million on its opening day — outperforming Spider-Man: Far From Home ($39.2 million), Guardians of the Galaxy ($37.8 million) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($36.9 million).

The film dropped roughly 67 percent in its second weekend in theaters, which is the biggest second-weekend drop for any Disney-distributed Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. Some theaters blamed the drop on Disney+ Premier Access simultaneous release, arguing that streaming availability resulted in less theater visits.

Black Widow is now in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access. The film arrives on non-Disney+ digital platforms Aug. 10 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD Sept. 14.
