Marvel is relaunching the Black Widow comic book series ahead of the character's first Marvel Cinematic Universe solo outing.

As revealed by IGN, the Russian spy-turned-Avenger is once again suiting up, courtesy of writer Kelly Thompson and artist Elena Casagrande, with cover art by Adam Hughes.

The series will follow Natasha Romanoff as she investigates a new mystery in San Francisco. This will be the character's first solo series since 2019's Black Widow and The Web of Black Widow.

"I think Black Widow is an incredibly rich character in that she works well in a lot of different genres, but that can also make her a little tricky – if you try to do too much with her instead of committing to a clear vision I think you can run into trouble," Thompson said. "I’m very interested in the duality of Natasha… so look for that to be a recurring theme in this first arc as she struggles against that and leans into it."

Aside from the titular character, the series will feature Russian super-soldier Red Guardian and fellow Black Widow Yelena Belova, who'll soon make their big-screen debuts. The characters also have their own series, Widowmakers: Red Guardian and Yelena Belova, by Devin Grayson and Michele Bandini.
