With her new solo film coming soon, there is a lot of buzz surrounding what is perhaps Marvel's most popular female character, the Black Widow. She has been around almost as long as any other character at Marvel, and because of this has a long and storied history.

Over the course of that history, Black Widow has worn all sorts of costumes. Some of these suits have become iconic over the years. Others have not aged very well. Here are all of Black Widow's costumes, ranked.

10 10. Original

Natasha's very first uniform was definitely not her best. Perhaps back in the '60s this uniform may have been stylish. Nowadays it seems exceedingly out of date.

The dominatrix-style look was successful at making her seem like a seductive spy. Outside of that, this costume did not seem to have much utility. Comicbook fans of all sorts are no doubt very glad to see that this uniform is now a relic of the past.

9 9. 2099

Marvel's 2099 series of comics took a unique spin on every one of the company's most popular heroes. Although the only 2099 brand to really take of was Spider-Man 2099, there were many other unique characters with very interesting new designs.

One of these many characters was the Black Widow. Instead of a hero, this version of Black Widow was a vicious murderer who ate her victims after sleeping with them. Her costume has a much more futuristic, sleek design.

8 8. Avengers

Avengers Movie Black Widow

Although Scarlet Johannson's Black Widow first appeared in Iron Man 2 back in 2010, it was her appearance in 2012's The Avengers that made the character instantly iconic.

While it was Johannson's portrayal that ultimately made the character incredibly appealing, her appearance overall helped add to the allure as well. The black suit is a throwback to her classic comic book appearance, and the SHIELD logos on her shoulders were another nice touch grounding the character in the world of the MCU.

7 7. Endgame

Avengers: Endgame gave us one of the best Black Widow costumes to date. At this point, Natasha was moving from her role as a spy to more of a general and team leader. This change is reflected in the stronger, more armor-like attire she wears in the movie.

This suit has several other nice touches, such as her wristbands and utility belt. Overall, it's a great costume that shows how far Natasha has come since her first appearance in Iron Man 2.

6 6. Age of Ultron

Black Widow Avengers Age of Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron gave us yet another iconic look for comic book fans' favorite Russian spy. This was the first of the MCU movies to prominently feature her "widow's bite" wrist bands. The blue shock they give off is the same color as the blue lines lining her torso and arms.

It's unfortunate that the blue highlights on the sides of the suit did not survive in future iterations. It really distinguished this character from the rest and greatly increased the coolness factor of the suit.

5 5. Yelena

Natasha Romanov was not the only woman to don the Black Widow persona. Another Russian spy named Yelena Belova also took on the mantle. Yelena, who will be played in the upcoming Black Widow movie by Florence Pugh, has proven herself to be just as successful as her predecessor.

While Yelena's suit is reminiscent of Natasha's, there are some subtle differences that make her stand apart. The high collar and midriff for instance. Slight differences that really help give this outfit its own style. It'll be interesting to see if this character's MCU counterpart wears a similar suit.

4 4. Black Widow (Movie)

In Scarlet Johannson's upcoming film, the MCU seems set to show us several new Black Widow outfits. In the promotional materials, the most prominently displayed suit appears to be one of her absolute best to date.

While most of Natasha's suits appear more suited for a stealth mission, this one shows a woman ready to go to war.  Clearly, Natasha is preparing for a heavy firefight. Audiences are going to have to wait to see why Natasha needs so much protection until her standalone film's release on May 1st, 2020.

3 3. Infinity War

During Avengers: Infinity War, Natasha went for a completely new look. Green is not a color very commonly associated with the Black Widow character. Despite this, the choice was definitely a good one for her in this film.

In addition to the new color choice, this is yet another costume that chose a more tactical/assault-feel over the typical espionage type look Black Widow is known for. Between her new batons and trusty handguns, this version of Black Widow is absolutely ready to go to war.

2 2. White Widow

Another new suit that will be in the new Black Widow film is a sleek white costume. Interestingly enough, this suit is not unique to the film. Natasha originally wore the white suit in the comics, where she used it to blend into the snowy background she had found herself in.

This suit serves the exact same purpose as her classic costume; while the black one allows Natasha to hide in the dark, this white widow suit allows Natasha to blend into a more snowy environment. As one of the world's greatest spies, it's no surprise that the Black Widow has multiple stealth suits ready to go for a whole multitude of situations.

1 1. Classic

When it comes down to it, there is no Black Widow suit better, or more iconic, than her classic costume. Although her look has changed several times over the years, Natasha always returns to her tried and true look. This is for a good reason, as this costume is both practical and stylish.

There are a series of bells and whistles that come with the classic uniform. One of the most iconic of these is her belt. The gold circles are a stylish juxtaposition to the sleek black. In addition to that, her wristbands also share this gold color.
