WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Ghost Rider: Kushala #6, available now on Marvel Unlimited.

The new Ghost Rider: Kushala Infinity comic reveals more about the Apache warrior from the 1800s, who became a Spirit of Vengeance, with the mantle now being passed down to her descendant, Olivia. Kushala has been disturbed by the actions of Doctor Doom, that has tossed her through time trip to the '20s and '40s to uncover the secrets of the villain's plan. As Olivia and Kushula continues their trip in Ghost Rider: Kushala #6 (by Taboo, B. Earl, Guillermo Sanna and VC's Joe Sabino), Marvel's original Black Knight, Sir Percy, returns in a surprising new role.

Kushala and Olivia visit the '70s to speak to Olivia's Uncle Edgar, who's been studying the stars for years. They're able to decipher clues from his work, tapping into a breach that they discover is the Fifth Dimension.

This rift in space and time then shows them the origin of the multiverse, which is what Doom wants to harness after his experiences in Marvel's Secret Wars events. However, to get to the origin point, the ladies meet a ferryman who turns out to be Sir Percy (aka Percival of Scandia), who is also the first Black Knight, originally created by Stan Lee and Joe Maneely in the '50s.

Sir Percy took many lives for his king, honoring the Pendragon dynasty against the likes of Mordred and even a young Thor, and he passed the mantle to Dane Whitman upon his death. Ironically, he's become a helpful supernatural spirit since his passing, possessing people in a way similar to DC's Boston Brand/Deadman, jumping into magical relics and aiding Doctor Strange with his centuries of knowledge. His spirit was last seen working with Dane in Curse of the Ebony Blade to help him better understand the limits of his power.

The original Black Knight has acted as a mentor and brother, aiding Dane and his daughter, Jacks, as they both share the mantle moving forward. In this story, Percy's more of a gentleman, mimicking the boatman in the Styx arc of Greek mythology, ferrying Kushala and her kin to the Arbiter. This is a relic that spawned from when the multiverse was created, with Doom wanting the artifact that the ladies are carrying.

The wise Percy warns them to be careful, offering them advice that is sure to aid their successful completion of their mission. Their job is to get the five other wands from Doom, and the half their wand's missing, so he can't destroy or recreate reality. However, Doom has taken Olivia's daughter hostage, which leaves the heroes at a disadvantage and makes Percy's warning that not everyone will leave the dimension alive as an even more frightening omen.
