Marvel's Avengers may have brought a number of notable characters to consoles, but they also adapted a lesser-known villain from the comics. Monica Rappaccini is introduced as MODOK's right-hand woman and is a significant foe in the narrative of the game.

The character in the comics is similar in many ways and goes by the title of Scientist Supreme. However, there's a number of details that the video game left out compared to the comics. While AIM is a huge part of the game and is perhaps the perfect set of villains to face off against the Avengers, Monica herself is usually much more than just a high-ranking member of the organization.

10 An Ongoing Title

Wasp Hank Pym

The Scientist Supreme title is actually not one that has been exclusive to Monica herself. In fact, it's actually one that has been held by a number of significant characters in the Marvel Universe. Much like the Sorcerer Supreme, there appears to be one at a time.

This is more of a self-appointed title, though, and one that has been held by some of the smartest minds on Earth. Doctor Doom once held the title for instance, as did Hank Pym when he became the Wasp.

9 Theft From Banner

Bruce Banner

Monica showed a lot of promise early on. She was a keen student and was actually inspired by Bruce Banner. However, as she did often in her career, she didn't always tread on the right path. She showed her colors very quickly in her career.

She sought to gain knowledge from Doctor Banner on his studies and therefore arranged to work alongside him. Instead of assisting though, she stole his ideas and sold them off as her own, winning a number of accolades for discoveries that were never her own.

8 Thou Should Do Harm

Monica Rappaccini

For a while, Monica was studying biochemistry in order to help humanity. While she didn't take any kind of doctor's oath, she still sought to heal rather than do harm. That all changed after she became entirely jaded by her work.

She began to investigate ways in which she could actually cause pain and chaos. She investigated diseases instead of her normal studies and actually experimented on humans with her sick ideas. These concepts eventually lead her to AIM.

7 Venomous Daughter

Carmilla Black as the Scorpion

While there aren't any iconic Spider-Man villains in the Avengers game Monica herself actually has quite a strange link to the web-heads rogues gallery. At some stage in Spidey's career, he was introduced to a female version of the Scorpion.

Known as Carmilla Black, this iteration of the Sinister Six member is actually the daughter of Monica Rappaccini. While the two very rarely appear alongside one another, there's clearly a potential reunion between the duo that could take them to the next level.

6 Teleportation Belt

AIM Monica Rappaccini

Monica utilizes a number of impressive inventions and equipment throughout her time with AIM and beyond. A lot of the technology she uses is either invented by herself or something MODOK and AIM have cooked up.

One incredibly rare piece of tech that the Scientist Supreme usually has on her is a belt that allows her to teleport. It gives her the edge in battle, especially since she has no powers except for her enhanced intelligence. It's a piece of tech that has sometimes been replicated on AIM soldiers, like in the game.

5 In Need Of A Merc

Deadpool Monica Rappaccini

Monica has carved out her own path as well on a number of occasions. Either leading AIM or at the very least utilizing some of their resources, she has still had to enlist some help when needed. This resulted in quite the unlikely team-up.

Monica actually hired the help of Deadpool. Needing a merc with a mouth, she hired the trained killer to steal from Norman Osborn's HAMMER. They had acquired a series of MODOK clones and she wished to possess them herself.

4 A Dark Reign

Hammer Monica Rappaccini

Marvel's Dark Reign was a difficult period of time in the history of the universe. Norman Osborn created his own iteration of SHIELD known instead as HAMMER. For a while Monica was a leading part of this, teaming up with the villain and representing AIM.

This was a great position for Monica as it allowed her to continue on her experiments in a seemingly government-sanctioned capacity. She also applied some of her own experiments to Osborn himself who wished to become stronger.

3 Battle For An Empire

Aim during the period that the organization worked for the Avengers

After the collapse of HAMMER and the seeming reinvention of AIM, Rappaccini sought to bring back the organization to its former glory. It had been turned into an almost heroic group, but there were those who continued to run a darker version of the team.

There was an AIM Empire to have, although this also fell apart. It was during this time that Rappaccini showed her loyalty to AIM, betraying the new owner and trying to recreate what once was, before all the changes.

2 Ravencroft Leader

Ravencroft Marvel

Ravencroft is an institute that has been the home of some of the most dangerous and monstrous beings in the Marvel Universe. It's also an establishment that Norman Osborn came to control once again, this time under JANUS.

Monica, still loyal to Osborn from time to time, was given command of Ravencroft. This was useful for her studies as she continued to develop a great knowledge of powers and the supernatural.

1 Avengers Appearance

Avengers Game Monica Rappaccini

The Avengers game features Monica as one of its main villains. The Scientist Supreme is seen working on adaptoids, much like she does in the comics. She has her own boss battle too where she utilizes the technology of AIM.

While the character is never named as the Scientist Supreme, she does wear a unique costume, although one that is quite different from the comics. Earlier in the game, she can be seen in a green shirt, which reflects the colors fans are used to seeing her wear.
