Now that the War of the Realms is over with, The Avengers will turn their attention to another threat in the far reaches of the cosmos. November's Avengers #27 takes Earth's Mightiest Heroes to an alien prison galaxy, where they will come across the new wielder of the powerful Starbrand.

Writer Jason Aaron is reuniting with artist Ed McGuinness for "Starbrand Reborn." The two creators relaunched Avengers in the publisher's "Fresh Start" initiative in 2018. Joining the team for the story arc is longtime Avenger, Black Widow.

"As previewed in last year’s Free Comic Book Day release, the Avengers will be venturing out into space, into a quarantined galaxy that houses the most dangerous criminals and creatures in the cosmos!" Executive Editor Tom Brevoort told Newsarama. "The reason? A signal has been detected that a new Starbrand has been activated!"

"Why would an Earth defense system activate way out in space, and who has accessed this dread cosmic power? That’s what the Avengers need to find out—and find out they will!"

The extra-sized Avengers #10/#700 teased the return of the Starbrand in a splash page featuring future storylines. The artwork featured numerous hands extended in the air, with the Starbrand symbol on the back of each hand. The cover to Avengers #27 shows alien hands with the same symbol marked on them.
