In Avengers Forever, a new version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes has been forming. This one, which aims to take on the Multiversal Masters of Evil, is made up of alternate versions of beloved heroes from other worlds. So far, the team has introduced such members as Tony Stark, the Ant-Man of Earth-818, but it's on the lookout for more.

Avengers Forever #8 opens on Earth-56337 with Thor hiking in the Himalayas. Due to the hike, he lay down in the snow and has a moment of peace. However, this is interrupted by Mjolnir coming to find Thor. The God of Thunder curses his beloved weapon, which he's unable to lift. As the book explains, in this universe, the Masters of Evil destroyed Asgard and subjugated Midgard. Thor has not been able to lift the weapon since then.

Introduced in 1962's Journey Into Mystery #83, Mjolnir is Thor's powerful weapon and was initially necessary for his transformation. Due to a special enchantment, only those who are considered worthy are able to lift the weapon, and there have been occasions where the God of Thunder was unable to pick up the powerful hammer. Several other characters have wielded Mjolnir over the years, giving them the powers of Thor in the process. Those among the worthy have included Steve Rogers/Captain America and Jane Foster/Mighty Thor.
