In addition to reinterpreting the Avengers films as plays, William Shakespeare's Avengers also features authentic meter and verse as well as stage directions and Marvel-based Easter eggs. The book is also described as "an eminently giftable franchise bible that elevates and celebrates the movies, making it a must-have for fans of the MCU and the Avengers alike."

Quirk Books is well known for its novels that combine classic literature and pop culture. Other novels published by Quirk Books include William Shakespeare's Star Wars, also written by Doescher, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which adds an undead twist to Jane Austen's eponymous novel.
