Avengers: Endgame - Marvel's Official Synopsis Teases the End of an Era

After 21 films released across the past 11 years, the upcoming Avengers: Endgame is serving as a culmination of sorts for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The official synopsis posted on Marvel's website has been updated, teasing a last stand by the surviving heroes against Thanos and delivering a sense of finality to the longrunning franchise. The full synopsis from Marvel is below:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios' grand conclusion to twenty-two films, "Avengers: Endgame."

Earlier this week, the first 22 films within the MCU, from 2008's Iron Man to next month's Avengers: Endgame. had been rebranded by Marvel Studios under the umbrella "the Infinity Saga," as opposed to the "phases" branding previously used by the studio. With this ominous new synopsis, the inaugural era of the MCU may indeed be coming to an end.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau and Bradley Cooper, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Josh Brolin. The film arrives April 26.
